Yes, it feels real good to be organized and ready for the interview! :) And we might find we missed something every time we look at our organized folders or binders.

You're one up on me buying stationery at the dollar store. I bought three folders (1/2" thick) with 24 plastic sleeves each at Office Depot :) I wanted something thin enough to slight under the glass window at the interview booth.

I sent one folder stuffed with documents and photos to my fiancee, and she felt it's better with 2 folders, so I created another set of two presentation folders and added more stuff :D I'll hand carry those to her a few days before her interview :)

Soon, I'll make travel arrangements and tell my boss I'll be gone for two weeks in July :D Traveling to China is a lot harder and more expensive then going to Canada :) It's not merely across the border to the neighbor country, it's the other side of the world with 11 to 14 hours time difference and all :D BUT, it's exciting and worth it :)

Holy cow talk about jet lag!!!

I do understand your point, but for some, the point is to be close to their loved ones as soon as possible and in effect "fair" goes out the window. What works for you, may not work for others...every relationship is different. My wedding date is October 1st. We have planned a huge wedding. An interview date of August 31st would have murdered all of those plans, including the required pre-marital courses by the Church. Where I am forthcoming with the basic information needed to communicate on this site, I don't feel the need to divulge all of our personal information.

In our case there was much more than a wedding date that needed to be met, and so my point still remains if you plan on being in the united states well before your wedding, to reflect that date, and not the date of your actual wedding.

Everyone on this site is planning to get married and spend the rest of their lives with their loved ones. There is not one couple here more important than the next. The only difference is the journey we all walk to get to that destination and the personal responsibility we all have to meet our individual needs.

I'm with you, Dizzy. It says EVERYWHERE not to plan a wedding until visa is in hand. You can always be placed in AR or AP or whichever it is that takes up to a year for approval, we can get denied (lla y str!-- God forbid!)... there are all sorts of things that can happen. I've learned months ago that there is no such thing as "fair" when it comes to immigration visas... at least not reliably so. I think it's pretty normal for everyone to do what they have to for themselves to get through while following regulations and rules. If you need to fudge a wedding date to get an earlier interview... then by all means, do it.

I am grateful that we have a relatively decent interview date (in just a few weeks), but I had planned and made contingency plans for later. I am out a plane ticket, but since the whole process is thousands of dollars anyway (one translation of two documents cost us $300!!!!!)... I'm just taking it as an additional expense and sucking it up, so to speak.

But I love the support that the Decemberites have and show to one another! :)

Congrats Tara! :) Congrats to everyone on NOA2 and interview and POE dates!!! :) :) I can't wait to see WEDDING PICTURES!

I think that it is important to have a contingency plan for the visa application being denied. It would be pure horror but face it, you may have done everything just right, but the CO at the interview just happens to be having a bad day. The next thing you know, WHAM! Your Fiance(e) walks out of the embassy with a yellow sheet of paper, DENIED, case closed! What will you do? Hire a lawyer, call your congressman? Kick the cat (dog in Mari's case)? It can happen, I have a friend this happened to, not something I read online, I know the guy. The good news is that was 3 years ago and they are together and happy now. Sorry to be pessimistic but never forget we are dealing with the government, so have a "plan B" is what I am saying. The K-1 visa is just one battle in the war, approved or denied there will be another battle but in the end we will win the war. So what is your "plan B?"

I'd be surprised if anyone on this site doesn't have a plan b. I promise you no one has forgotten how painful and unpredictable this process has been and will continue to be. smh.

Just happened to see a post listed about the DECEMBERITE FAMILY in the "last post info" on the forums page.

I've been working hard getting everything ready for Chay.

Her interview is Tues. morning in Manila (Monday night EST)...please send some positive vibes for her approval. I'm probably more nervous than she is.

Congrats and good luck to everyone who are on their way...and a special wish that those still waiting for the NOA2 will receive it soon!

That sounds very exciting, I'd love to take a big trip like that! (although I'm sure the novelty would wear off doing it more regularly :P)

Yap, the excitement wore off after the second trip :D

The journey maybe tough, but the purpose and destination are well worth the trouble :)

Holy cow talk about jet lag!!!

Yes, big time jet lag for sure :D

I learnt to force myself to sleep on the longest leg (12 to 13 hours). No movies, just ZZZZ's because I want to make sure I'm "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed" when I get there, if you know what I mean :D

Looks like you and I have the same interview date according to DOS. However, July 18th is when my fiancee turns in her P4 forms and I-134, and July 19th is the actual interview date.

What? DCF will no longer be an option? #######!! Now I need a "plan C!" :bonk: Well I would assume that if you move to the beneficiary's country and get married that you can at least file for an IR-1. Would be slow in comparison to a DCF but at least it's something..

I think I wrote that wrong-- they are changing the process and now you will only be able to apply for a CR-1 (?) visa in the beneficiary's country if there is a USCIS field office in that country. So I guess instead of sending the petition to the US embassy you would send it to the USCIS field office-- here's a list of countries with the offices-- http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

I would want to get the application in before August 15th because we all know how things can get confusing when processes get changed!

WOAH MARY!! I just saw that huge cupcake of CONGRATULATIONS! lol!! Thank you so much!!! So cute! Also thank you, Dizzy for the meaning of that abbreviation!

Also, everyone...I just did a review for the Vancouver Consulate. Not sure if anyone is needing to go there to do their interview, but if you are it might be helpful!

I also put up Matthew and I's story of how we met on our profile, if you want to take a little read. It's just a little diddy of our love story, hehehe.

It's hard keeping up with this thread cause you guys are all fast communicators lol.

love to all!
