hello yall !!

my interview is close and i realised that my co sponsor didnt send her 2010 1040form but a 2010 4868 form. she sent the 2008 &2009 and when i asked her she said she has not filed her 2010 taxes yet, which is why she sent copy of her Automatic Request for an Extension of Time to file 2010 taxes...tell me if this gonna be a problem with the embassy ???

My fiancé, who is in the army, sent all his tax transcipt but in 2010 he only made 13 450$ and this year he works only one weekend in the month so that's only 300$/month, so I asked him to find a co sponsor and his mother said yes but there is the problem below.

congrats everyone with the good news! we have some too! after a very swift, easy and pleasurable experience [bar when the lady issuing the queue numbers asked to see my ds-160, and my heart stopped, until she realised it wasn't required!!!] at the embassy today reilly and i have been given the green light, and i embarrassingly made a funny squeak noise when the lady said she was approving me today! amazing, flight on the 16th, so happy! love to you all :)

Arrived and settled good.gif

DHL picked up my 11 boxes of stuff on Monday morning at about 11.30, so the journey really started. Loaded up at 6.45am Tuesday morning for the journey to LHR for the flight - Mum, Dad and my brother came with us, brother driving a rented Ford Galaxy to get all of us plus luggage in.

Got into Chicago O'Hare a few minutes early and headed off for Immigration.

I cornered a CBP officer and confirmed with him that I needed to complete a white I-94 and that the customs declaration only needed to have the back completed if I was bringing with me things that I'd had for less than a year or was planning on selling in the US.

Joined the immigration queue - we actually joined the USC/LPR queue as they said it didn't matter which. Got a youngish female CBP officer who took the brown envelope, opened it and started stamping forms left, right and centre (sorry, center ). She chatted away with the two of us (Gin had come over to the UK a few days before so that we could journey back together), stamped everything that needed to be stamped and sent us on our way.

Picked up the bags from the carousel and went through to the customs point - they looked at the declarations, and waved is on through - even with 4 large suitcases, two cabin cases and two backpacks laughing.gif

No stresses at immigration/customs whatsoever! No secondary, nothing good.gif Of course, that hadn't stopped me getting stressed about what could happen when the plane was coming in to land...

Over 3 hours at O'Hare, then onward flight to SLC where we were picked up by Gin's parents in her dad's old pick-up with topper (the only vehicle big enough for 4 people plus all the luggage rofl.gif).

Home and in bed by about 10.30pm.

Wednesday, and we were up early (the joys of an early night!) ready for errands - Gin handed me the keys to the car so that I could start getting used to driving in the US (only done it once before for a week on holiday) and we were off up to the county seat for the marriage license, then T-Mobile for my new sim card (Gin and her family are on T-Mob so it's easier, even though I do lose 3G from my iPhone), and finally grocery stores for bits and pieces.

Got home for lunch and there were the 11 boxes dumped on the drive - a little battered and bruised from their journeys though. We had lunch and then dived into the boxes - all 11 unpacked and some of the stuff sorted away by dinner time. Only a few breakages (5 glasses, a mug, a Le Creuset baking dish and a sponge tin dented to buggery), so not too bad all considered.

The stresses and strains then left me in bed all day yesterday suffering, but I'm better today, so hopefully it'll all be OK now, and, of course, Gin is off work as it's the weekend from tonight good.gif

Only thing left to sort is my health insurance - the company I was going to go with (Humana) requires me to have lived in the US for 6 months prior to taking out the insurance, so back to square one. Gin's health insurance from her employer is a lot more money to add me on than the quotes I was getting, so if we can beat that, it'd be good. More to look into tonight and this weekend, I think - wonder if I'll have to speak to an insurance agent...

congratulations everyone on the good news!!

Also Aleke86 I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you about the taxes situation. Due to the amount he made (less than he needs to, for this), you guys need to show that he has assets that make up for the amount that he is short by. I know I found this stuff on VJ, through links in the guide section, but I don't have it bookmarked so I don't have the exact links. Good luck with everything.

Our flight was cancelled too Gsummit... how disappointing and frustrating huh? We have to wait 3 more days here in Mexico before the next available flight out :-/

I tried to see about changing the flight to avoid JFK altogether and was told the change would cost $650! :o I am just hoping they wont change it again since our wedding is in 7 days and we have things to do. Hope everyone gets out safe and soon.

Hi Mari

I was hoping to go but looks like I won't be there for the interview. He's really nervous and a little worried we might get called in for a dual interview. I am staying positive and find myself talking to him like he's already here. What's the update with you guys? Thanks for checking in :)

Congratulations!!! I will be soon following, I just got an email saying my passport has been picked up from the consular and will be ready for me in the next few days. My Sept.11, 2011 wedding is a go!!!!!!!

That's great news about your wedding! :)

Blake moved into our new house last night and excitedly sent me some pictures of it with his small amount of furniture in it. It was so cute to see how super excited he is to be there and to have me coming soon. The house looks great and I can't wait to be there!! Interview is so soon, the consulate reviews flowing in the last few days have been really helpful and reassuring.

Wishing the best for everyone and that you and your loved ones are safe in this crazy weather!
