I'm glad to hear that 'it's all good', Mari :) I was curious too how things were going with you and Kadir. Be strong and you'll get through these trials :) Love conquers all!

I was just wondering, I'm not crossing the American border until September 6th...should I be getting my AOS stuff ready now?? We're getting married on September 9th, but with so much going on right now, is it ok to wait til AFTER we're married to get it all together and sent in??? Just curious to know your opinions, group.

Thanks! Have a lovely Sunday :)

Love,

Tara

I think you can totally wait. We are... We just have the forms and know what to expect so we can send off ASAP. Good to know what's coming so you can cut your time in half when it comes time to file.

Just noticed I quoted you the wrong way. Stupid iPad!!

Oh, Mari...

I'm so sorry to hear that! Although I think that day will be here before you know it, it doesn't make it any easier right now. I cant imagine losing one of my parents especially right now so I can appreciate how much stress Kadir personally must be under and then the conflict of feelings you must be under. I pray that these few months go by quickly for you and that you will be in each others arms soon.

Have you guys considered going through with the interview process now? Your visa is good for 6 months once you have it. Might as well just get it out of the way.

Xo

This is EXCELLENT NEWS!!! Thanks for the help on the questions and the "nerdy" timeline you provided them... Really well done! See you in San Fran Gyselle!!!

Mari

HERE I AM!!! Thanks for checking up and looking out for me... I love our Decemberite Fam.

Well, K and I have had several setbacks... ugh. But good thing the Decemberite Family had "Plan B's" to back us up. When K came home from base, his father took ill so we delayed our plans, changed our wedding date for just after his POE date --- moved it out by 3 mos so he can help with his family. This means, I'll look for flights for me to go at the end of Aug or beginning of Sept, help take care of Dad, come home without him and K will have to fly in after that. I might just wait it out & fly later till he's on his way for POE (Plan C??) in case of emergency. It's been v e r y difficult for us both since we thought we'd be together by August! :crying: This is the kind of stuff where real testing comes in I guess. Celebrations are exchanged for the care of our parent(s)... it wouldn't be a celebration without them for us.

We have had some trying moments through this I can assure you, with the fear [of the unknown] from his dad's condition at one point, his taking on a job that he's over exhausted constantly (AND CRANKY lol), and my sobbing over minor setbacks clearly interferring with us in general making it ridiculous enough I have to go there MYSELF! :girlwerewolf2xn: = :ranting: .

That's the update but it's alllllll gooood.

PS: HI MATT!!!!

Mari, I am sorry to hear about your set back. Your postive attitude and faith will get you through this. Kadir will be joining his Turkish guy friends in the 'married life' before he knows it. I hope the two of you continue with your interview. I send my love and thoughts as the two of you cope through this life event, especialy to Kadir's father.

Take care,

Lise

Mari- you have the best attitude and warmest spirit of anyone I know. Good for you, kudos!

Everyone else... question for you! :)

So... besides AOS stuff, what other documents are important to have in the US that I'm not thinking of? I'm thinking for job applications, apartment leases, etc. So far...

- Birth certificate (translated)

- All transcripts starting from high school or uni (translated)

- Any documentation about previous jobs (translated)

- Roommate references

- Professional references

- Bank account information

- Test scores, diplomas, etc.

- Medical/vaccination records

... I know I'm missing things! What other papers are important to have when you immigrate, other than the stuff required for AOS?

Posted

ps: did we ever get a cookbook document? :) I went AWOL for a bit before moving and with work and I think I missed it if it was posted.

We did! Search for Lise's post! it's awesome, too!!

Wow! Congratulations on everyone getting their approvals! We're lagging behind a bit and I'm still waiting for my Packet 3 letter at the moment. I'm not in too much of a hurry though because I still have to wait for my police checks and a bunch of other factors. :-)
