No. Condemned the baby factory in our house. That was 4.5? years ago now and still as thrilled as ever about it. Love my kid, but I am done, done, done with breeding.

same here. I'm crazy about Ben, but he's a LOT of work. There's no way I could consider having another one. Maybe if things were different, we had some support, some family around, Charles didn't have a job where he's not always present, then who knows.

Congratz Caro I hope you'll have a nice pregnancy and birth! I'm so sorry for your experience, there are bad apples everywhere - I had bad obgyns until I found my birthing center which was awesome, their back obgyn was wonderful (I saw him for the 20 week ultrasound and another one later one for concerns about slow growth). Fingers crossed :D

Time flies so quickly, Eloise is already 9 months old and Jona 3 years - he's been in preschool since February and now goes 5 times a week. He's been talking like crazy in both languages lately and loves, loves to count everything and finds it quite hilarious. It's nuts how fast they grow. THey really like each other and I'm glad that we don't have to deal with sibling rivalry just yet. They both had their checkups today and Missy is already 30 inches tall, but weighs only 19lbs - Jona weighed 20lbs at 4 months! They're doing great and knock on wood we are not dealing with allergies or any other chronic health issues.

I'm done after two kids... Plenty of work, lol! And once Eloise is 3 years old I might return to work part-time until she's in kindergarten, when I can go full-time. I'm a little sad sometimes when I nurse her thinking I'll never have a newborn again... But 2 kids is plenty for us, unless we'll have an oops of course ;) It's "raining" babies currently in our families, people are pregnant left and right... Plenty of cousins all over the place for our kids :D (in China, Germany and California, isnt that crazy????)

congrats Caro- go for the VBAC! Evi has done it safely. And my "crunchy hospital" does VBAC's almost every week. Just go in open minded, you may end up with a section if things get tough, or if there is any doubt for complications. Do NOT attempt a VBAC at home whatever you do. There was one in our community recently who chose to have a homebirth wih midwife after c-section with twins. When the midwife didn't get a fetal heart rate during labor, she called 911, mom refused to let the paramedics take her to the hospital. Shortly after the ambulance left her house she lost consciousness, and by the time they came back, and emergency sectioned her in the ER Mom and baby were both dead bc she ruptured. The c-section in the ER was so traumatizing for some staff that they had to get counseling.

VBAC does have risks so it's best to go for it in a setting where you will have access to emergency treatment for you AND your baby in seconds if you need it. You can still bring a birth plan, the (flameless)candles, music, bouncy ball, doula and kumbaya-singing husband to the hospital. :)

GOOD LUCK!

Funny I was never sure if I wanted kids, now I have 2 and I am not sure if we are done yet. haha. We will see. If there is a 3rd we will proably wait another 2 years I think. If Ben was our second child I'd have a tubal already haha! Kai is so freaking easy going, he makes parenting look like a piece of cake. Even his birth was nice and pretty painless. The only rough patch was his acid reflux during the first 4 weeks, but he is definitely a changed man now.

Oh no, that is so sad :crying: I will definitely go to a hospital and play it safe. Thankfully I really trust my doctor so it makes a big difference, I'm not going to second guess what she says :star: Besides, I've experienced enough natural labor for a lifetime, this time I want all the drugs they can legally give me

I know we are done at two, that was always my number, but I really wanted Sebas to have a sibling. I love my brother and cannot imagine not having that relationship in my life.

Here's something cool we are doing with this pregnancy: We scheduled an elective u/s for Dec 23 to find out the gender. We're going to ask the tech to not tell us and put the result in a sealed envelope, and we are going to open it on Christmas eve with our family. I'm very excited about that

Saludos,

Caro

oh, and I don't think Justin would be up for singing Kumbaya. I might ask him to perform Dark Side of the Moon from beginning to end just to pass the time though :P

2 thumbs up honey! haha! Great idea with the gender u/s. I always envy people who can wait until delivery time, but I just had to know and to prepare Ben for his sibling... Enjoy your pregancy!

Wow, it has been ages since I've been here. Congrats Caro!!!! SO excited for you.

Things are good here, just busy as hubby is in second year of nursing school, I work full-time and Declan is an active 3 1/2 year old. He takes gymnastics and swimming on Saturdays and loves them, which I love to see how happy he is, but I feel like we are rushing all the time. Only 6 more months of hubby's schooling and then he graduates, which hopefully will make things a bit easier. My mother is coming to stay with us for awhile (possibly moving to the area and will then get her own housing, but in our spare bedroom at first). Looking forward to it for the most part. We get along great, and Declan adores his grandma. Just not sure how use all living in 1 house will be, with regards to privacy.

No news on the baby front for us. We are still trying, but I am having some health problems (nothing super serious) and the doctor is testing hormonal levels. Hoping to have a second bambino, but starting to accept that may not happen.

Hope all is well here :)

Hi, everyone

I hope that all is well. Congrats, Caro! I hope you're feeling well.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread with a question I imagine several people can help me with: We're off to the UK Thursday for two weeks. It'll be Madeleine's first plane trip (10 hours!), Phoenix to London on British Airways. We'll be in the bulkhead baby row--the one I often viewed in horror and thought "Man, I'm glad it's not me in that row, flying with a baby." Ah well, a new experience and adventure. I have a friend here in Phoenix who has flown that route twice with her baby, who is a year older than Madeleine, so she described how it works. She told me it's more than likely that the baby will want to sleep on one of us rather than in the bassinet thingy, which she said is about the shape and size of a bouncy seat. Madeleine is 14 months now and practically running, so I don't expect she'll just chill out in it.

So, my question: Any tips? Must-haves? How did your babies deal with jet-lag? Madeleine has turned into a pretty good sleeper. We've been trying to get her on an earlier schedule this week in preparation for the trip, but it hasn't worked out very well. She goes to sleep between 8 and 9 and wakes up around 7. I imagine the time change will be really difficult to deal with?

Fortunately, Madeleine does pretty well in "elsewhere" environments. I think she'll like the plane and all the activity...for a while. Jon and I are both dreading the flight, though.

Here's her "school pic" from a couple of months ago.

Hello Ladies!

Baby and I are moving right along. 17 weeks, no nausea (barely had any this time around, yay!), feeling hungry, a little tired but doing good :) My belly really popped out this week, but no kicks yet. With Sebas I felt them at 18 weeks, so hopefully any day now! Waiting for our gender determination U/S on Friday, hoping the baby cooperates and Saturday we can reveal whether we're having a little girl or another trouble making boy :luv:

In case we don't "talk" before the holidays - Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanza... and prosperous 2012!!

@EOG: yay for groovy baby taking her first plane trip! Here's how I do it with Sebas:

Have some toys for the first part of the trip (boarding until meal time)

Eat

Play a little more

When they turn off the lights after meal time, I prepare a bottle/ warm milk in a sippy cup, lay him across our two sits with a blanket while he drinks his bottle, then pat him so he can fall asleep. Hopefully you don't get any turbulence and she can sleep all the way to London :) take teething pain medication just in case, even if she has no signs of teething - I've been hit with a teething baby on the plane twice, and it's not a good thing!. Take some tylenol as well, just in case, and any comfort toys/ items she may have.

Make sure you have extra diapers, wipes, a change of clothes in case she throws up.

Disposable changing pad covers for the plane changing table, or disinfecting wipes

Something for you to read, extra headphones in case they are short on your flight and don't get any. I used to sleep the entire flight to Buenos Aires but now I don't sleep as much because I'm watching Sebas, so you might need some entertainment for yourself.

Did you get a seat for her, or is she traveling on your lap? Good luck and have a great trip!

Saludos,

Caro
