A few questions. My fiance and I are both in Bogota right now. I had her fly here to meet me as it's easier for me to get to Bogota than to other cities. She brought the K1 packet 3 they sent her. Interestingly on the list of documents, it does not say anything about the DAS certificate for the petitioner. This form "instructions" has an expiration date of November 2011. Next, the DS-2100 they sent her expires November, 2011 (which I guess is ok). Here comes the confusion... The DS-230 Part I they sent her has an expiration date of 9/30/2010. Why would they send her a form that is already expired. Should I have her fill out all her info on this expired form or should I get the one online off their website?

Check the K-1 packet 4 for the DAS requirement: K-1 Packet 4

1) When filling out DS-230 question 1 asks "Family name, First name, Middle name." Question #3 asks "Full name in native alphabet (if Roman letters not used)"

Do we put N/A in question #3 if we wrote my fiance's name in question #1 or do we rewrite her name in question #3 as well?

2) Question #11 on DS-230 "Address where you want your permanent resident card mailed, if different than address in #10 (include the name of person who currently lives there). I want to put the address that I use for all my mail. I.e. my mailing address. It is a Mail Boxes, etc. type of location that has boxes. It's the address that I have used for my mailing address for 10+ years. Is it ok to use this address, even though I don't "live" there?

3) Question #33 on DS-230 "List all educational institutions attended" Do they just want University and perhaps high school or does she need to go all the down to first grade, etc.

Info regarding DAS certificate for petitioner. We went to DAS in Bogota. My fiance and I could have both gotten our DAS certificates here, but it takes 3 days and we won't be here. You must pick them up here. I.e. They won't mail them to my fiance in her town. So... they told us to go to a notary and get a "Poder." Basically, I had to write a letter giving my fiance my authorization to get my DAS certificate... it had to be signed by both of us and notarized at a notaria. With this, when she gets back to her city, she can go to the local DAS office in her town and request both of our DAS certificates. DAS in her town will get the certificates from Bogota and she can go pick them after 8-10 days. However, the caveat is this... they told her at DAS in Bogota that she should not request these right now as the interview might not be for a few months. She needs to wait until the interview date has been set to ask for them. Regarding the "Poder" from the notaria, there is no expiration on it, so she can go in a few months to get this. The "Poder" cost 3000 pesos. The DAS certificate costs 43,450 pesos/each.

Hello,

1)In the DS-230 Question #3 you have to rewrite your fiance´s name.

2)I guess for this one is better you call NVC to see if is possible they send the card to a P.O box. It is better if you put your house adress though.

3)Yes, You have to put every important educational institution. That means from elementary school, middle/high school, college, and any other vocational institution.

I need to disagree with #1: Question #3 can be left blank since you are using the Roman letters... I left it blank.

On #3 above I did not include elementary or later schools - college or vocational schools only (ie: blank)

no problems through NVC but we have not had the interview yet.

Call NVC (603-334-0700) and get your BGT#, then send all forms DS-2100 and DS-230 (http://photos.state.gov/libraries/colombia/231771/PDFs/IVPkt3InstructionsJune2011English.pdf)with a copy of your fiancee's passport or cedula to 'IVBogota@state.gov' with your BGT#. A week later call DOS (202-663-1225 Ext.1, Ext.0) and get your interview date. Get all requested documents and send visa payment from package 4 (http://photos.state.gov/libraries/colombia/231771/PDFs/ivpkt4appointmentjune2011englishrev.pdf)

Remeber that right now you will most probably won't get an interview until November if you email the forms today. Hope this help.

Will they tell her when to make an appointment for the medical exam? Does she need to do that after they schedule the interview?

She has to call to schedule her medical appointment. Labs don´t need a previous schedule, just call and ask to get the instructions to do it. In K-1 packet -4 you will find the authorized medical and lab phone numbers.

When sending the DS-2100 and DS-230 Part I, do you guys recommend we send it by email or fax. Personally I'd prefer to have her send it by email. Does anyone have any objection or bad stories about them not getting it, etc if she sends it by email? Ah, and is it IVBogota@state.gov or 1VBogota@state.gov

The directions just have it as a line going up and down. I assume it is an "I" but I just want to reconfirm

As soon as you have your interview date you can call any of the two approved doctors and schedule your medical appointment. The embassy won't schedule this for you. When you call any of the two doctors office they will ask you for your interview date and schedule you based on that. The doctor's information with their addresses and telephone number can be found in packet 4.

I sent this by email with a read confirmation. Simply write an email stating that you are sending packet 3 for K1 petition with BGT# XXXXXXXXXX. Make sure to note all documents which you are attaching DS-2100 and DS-230 Part I. Also include a copy of your fiancee passport bio page or her cedula for identification. The email is IVBogota@state.gov. Don't forget to request a read confirmation.

Well shoot. We sent it late last night. This was the response we got. Do you think it'll be ok or should she resend it. In the body of the email she just said her name, case #, and to confirm receipt. She didn't write that the DS-2100 and DS-230 Part I were attached, though the attachment is titled that. She also didn't put her DOB in the email as it says to do in the response. The thing is, in the letter they specifically say to only email or fax it once, and not to follow up etc. Should we just leave it as is, or resend it?
