Exactly!! laughing.gif Have fun!

Remember though, DOS closes at 5pm I believe, so call them before they close. They're not open as late as NVC sadly.

By "AP" I take it you mean administrative processing? What does that mean anyway? Additional background checks???

AP (administrative processing) means two things. One is additional background checks, and this is pretty much mandatory in most MENA countries. The second, found in all countries, is when the officer requests more documents to be sent in, either because you're missing it or the officer doesn't believe in your marriage and requires more proof.

Sometimes AP is also referred to as AR (administrative review), which is the same thing.

Yay, grats! kicking.gifkicking.gif

If you haven't already, you're going to be receiving an email soon with the details of your interview.

Your case should also be shipped to India next week. If you want to track it, you're either going to have to call the AVR as it'll update when your case has left NVC or you can talk with an operator and ask what day your case was shipped. But this is a completely optional step!

Your next mandatory step, schedule a medical! Gather all the documents you need for it: interview letter, passport, passport pictures (in Canada, it's 3, not sure in India though), and vaccination record.

Also, because you're in India, you have to set up courier service with VFS. You can take a look here: https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/Index.html Please don't ask me any questions about VFS, cause I have no idea :P All I know is Indians have to sign up for it and that's it.

Thanks so much Saylin!!! Yeah I'm pretty excited!

I received an email from the NVC this morning at 2:30 AM EST

The punchline reads

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in MUMBAI (BOMBAY)

I still cannot believe that I have to wait over 2 months :bonk:

I saw a post from digital2 that he was going to request an earlier interview date in Mumbai- I wonder if anything came of it.

Also, I can't seem to locate threads that indicate the average length of time from the interview to the visa in hand.

Yes, I got my interview letter at 6:30am on a Saturday morning. But that's normal. The email was generated the day before, but it takes awhile to get sent out as it's all automated.

Yes, some people have luck asking for an earlier interview date. But it always depends on the consulate/embassy and how busy they are.

Since you can't locate threads on the time between interview and visa in hand, try looking at people's timelines from India that had recent interviews. See how long it took to get their visa. That's what I did for Montreal. Had a whole spreadsheet going on :D
