Supporting Fiancee'

Before my wife became my fiancee, I asked her if she would be able to take two weeks off work for us to spend together. I then asked her how much she would have made during those two weeks and reimbursed her for the lost money. Neither of us knew if meeting again would lead to anywhere, so I felt it was only fair to her. After we got engaged I sent money only for extra expenses that she was incurring for the visa, etc. I sent money to grease the wheels for a new passport, bought her a new bag for traveling and some minor items. Nothing more.

She told me that she did not need money to live as she had a job and would keep it until the time to leave. There never was a question of me supporting her in Ukraine. Afterwards money has been sent to support her son and mother, now just the mother. Her son lives in America now. It was my decision to help support my mother in law. BTW, she loves me.

So, the question of whether to support your fiancee should be determined individually, but you have to ask yourself, "What would she do, if I was not planning to marry her".

Who reimbursed you?

I'm sure he was reimbursed in other ways. ;)

I have been getting very well compensated if you know what I mean.

She's in Ukraine right now taking care of some business, so I'm building up massive credits.

(Unpopular opinion time) About Russian women being "scammed" by Americans; it's easy... don't sign up on a dating website that specifically promotes RUB women in a negative (as in, submissive, skanky, etc) light. Or do what should be done in all relationships; don't rush into it, get to know the person, visit each other (if possible) more than just once or twice before tying the knot.

Doesn't sound unpopular to me...some sound advice.

If they leave their shoes behind it is almost as good (and a lot less trouble) than when they leave the children behind.

First time, Alla took Pasha and was gone and I was alone for 2 months, then she came back with Sergey and Pasha. That truly was boring.

Last year Alla left me alone for about 4 weeks with Pasha before we went over and joined her. We did all sorts of stuff we would get in big trouble for if she was here! Great fun. We ate our way through tons of junk food, drove her car around, shot real guns in the basement, slept late, wore dirty clothes, wore shoes in the house, you name it! Pasha wanted to have a party and "break all the windows"

This year she is going over with Pasha and leaving me here with Sergey for about 3 weeks. Then Sergey and I will go over. He will stay and go back to school and Alla and Pasha will come back with me. Sergey and I will be bachelors together this year. We will think of things to get in trouble. He is old enough for the "Canadian ballet" and gambling at the Casino in Montreal :P We may go to Canada and end up on that show "Locked Up Abroad"...nah, its Canada, I doubt that would count for that show.

Free money is nice.

How do you put a price on that? He compensated her for what she would've made at her job...

I guess that means he got a good deal!

My wife likes to make that argument when I ask her who's going to make her car payment since she hasn't put any money in the account for a while. "I pay you twice last month."

"Well, according to your math... you're pretty cheap. No wonder you don't offer a quantity discount!" I do have a punchcard and every tenth time is free. It's actually pretty cool. The punches are in the shape of the lady on the mudflaps of the big rigs. You know what they look like. Bling bling!

Through much trial and error, I've learned you always go to the ballet BEFORE you go to the casino. The "ballerinas" can be talked into joining you and if you do it the other way around, casino first, sometimes you can't afford tickets to get into the ballet and you miss the show.

I don't think they actually lock people up in Canada. They capture them then make them announce they're soary abooot whatever it was they got caught doing. Then they all eat some gravy fries at Tim Horton's and call it a day.

I heard of a guy getting locked up for smoking pot in public and throwing rocks at windows. He was arrested for throwing rocks at windows.

I would be in enough trouble if Alla finds out I went to the ballet, let alone took a couple ballerinas to the casino...HOLY #######, Slim! We will definitely go to Montreal though, maybe to the Biodome or Parc Olympique. Yeah, that's it.

Are the biodome and parc olympique ballet houses?

If they leave their shoes behind...
Mrs. T-B. did that a couple of times, and it was all that I could do not to purge some (or many) by donating them to Goodwill (for the tax writeoff, of course, but more immediately for closet space). However, she seems to have a photographic memory for items of apparel, and the cat probably would have disappeared as retribution, miu man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
