Hello,

I wanted to post that my fiancée has finally been approved for a K-1 Visa. Our case had been in Administrative Review since her interview at the Guangzhou Consulate on April 27th.

I had spent many hours on the VJ web site reading and learning before I started this K-1 process and continued learning each step of the way. This web site proved to be a valuable source of information in that I don't believe that I could have been properly prepared without the help of Visa Journey.

My fiancée was prepared as anyone could possibly be going into the interview. We were very fortunate that we had many things in our favor that sometimes cause problems for other people going through this process. Our relationship was well established with several trips made to China to visit my fiancée. My fiancée was able to speak and articulate in English without any problems during her interview and I had no problems proving that I could financially support her and her son. With that being said, we were surprised to receive a blue slip from Guangzhou during the interview requesting detailed resumes from my fiancée and from myself. We were confused and anxious because no explanation was given by the Visa Officer other than submit the resumes.

It is easy to let a person's emotions get in the way when something unexpected like this happens. However, we learned that the best course of action is to just let the consulate do their job and give them what they ask for. So all I can share from my experience is that you have to be patient in this process.

I would like to thank the many people who spend countless hours on this site providing answers to people who are trying to go through their own unique visa journey.

02/22/2011 ----- Case being adjudicated

02/28/2011 ----- RFE, Waiver to file 2nd K-1 petition

03/04/2011 ----- RFE reply sent

03/08/2011 ----- RFE received and being reviewed at USCIS

03/17/2011 ----- NOA2 (I-129F approved)

03/23/2011 ----- NOA2 hard copy received

03/29/2011 ----- NVC received our Case

04/04/2011 ----- NVC letter received and case forwarded to US embassy Manila

04/08/2011 ----- US Embassy Manila received our case (Consulate)

04/15/2011 ----- Paid VISA at BPI

04/16/2011 ----- Received Eligibility Letter from US Embassy Manila dated April 8, 2011

04/25/2011 ----- 1st day of Medical

04/26/2011 ----- 2nd day of Medical (I PASSED!! Thank you Lord!!)

05/13/2011 ----- Interview (221g - Case under Administrative Processing "AP")

08/12/2011 ----- Received an email from the embassy "Case is pending review by a consular officer"

Congratulations!

AOS Journey

11-04-2011 sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

11-07-2011 delivered

11-08-2011 Date on text messages but did not receive until 11-22-2011

11-23-2011 Check cashed.

11-25-2011 Hard copies of NOA1s

12-06-2012 Pui's Brother unexpectly passes away and we make an info pass appointment and receive an emergancy AP so she can return home. Pui leaves for Thailand for 2 weeks.

12-06-2012 Get a text message and email that she received an RFE

12-12-2012 RFE for original birth certificate. I swear we sent it along with a certificate translation of it.

12-20-2012 Pui returns from Thailand.

12-21-2012 We send the RFE back for with original birth certificate along with a new certificate of translation(I had to wait for her to return for her to sign)

12-26-2012 text and email they have received the RFE.

12-29-2012 Appointment for biometrics is 01-23-2012

01-13-2012 AP is approved.

01-23-2012 Biometrics appointment. Later during the evening the text and email saying the EAD is approved.

01-31-2012 EAD/AP combo card arrives.

05-22-2012 Email and text card is in production!
