NVC: Cairo Embassy IR-1/CR-1

I am completly confused with feelings. Not sure to get super excited or not. We get all excited at times for nothing. We received an email yesterday from the Embassy, stating the following "We received your inquiry, we are looking into the case and will advise you shortly." Today they are closed, Urgggggggg!!! Now I am thinking what is shorty for them another 4 months? Inshallah, we will be out of AP this month.

Inshallah it will be good news. My guess is the senator inquiry got to them and got them moving. It can't take another 4 months the Nvc site says it shouldn't be more than 6. But inshallah now they will get to work on it because people are questioning it. Keep hoping and praying.

This is a bit off topic but since it is tax season...Since our spouses are not in the US what category should I file under? I usually file as head of house hold because my mom and my sister are my dependents. However it says you can only do that if you are single so do I do married filling separately?

Sorry to take it off topic for a bit but I don't know what to do. I am going to H&R but reading the forums it seems like people are given different advice.

You can file head of household because you have a non-resident alien spouse. I recommend you do so if you have any EIC. Filing married with an alien spouse will disqualify you from EIC.

I studied VJ to see what questions will get the best answers from DOS so try some of these questions each time you call.

what is the last update to the case and when

Can you tell me the date of the last update?

DO you know how much longer? Sometimes they can say you are in your last 30 days because they know a certain check has to wait 30 days until it clears.

When was the last time someone accessed his file

when was the consulate last updated by the agencies

*********when you call in, ask ,

each time, for the last 3 'status changes'

with each date/time stamp, as well.

Can i have a case status update please?

When was the last time it was touched or worked on by someone other then you right now?
