Then I would suggest just calling the NVC...since it is easy to get a hold of a representative it is best if you call them And talk directly.

No I didn't sign up for the DHL update. We basically left the receipt with his parents because that's the address we had down. I didn't track it or anything so we only knew when he missed the delivery. But it's good they are helpful if you tell them you need it an extra day to go pick it up. It is really hard to be patient when you don't know what's going on because of lack of updates but I really didn't want to delay anything. So I listened to my lawyer and just kept quiet I was going to contact them if it went past next week because it would have been the end of the time their little paper said. Alhamdolellah it didn't come to that. You had your interview a week after ours so inshallah you will hear soon :)

Hang in there! it will be there inshallah. I know the whole not knowing when and where is frustrating espacially with no updates. But you are so ahead of the game by all the research you do (knowledge is power). And people on here are such great help and I'm so thankful for everyone of you guys.

Do you guys know what makes the CO at the interview claim AP for 1-2 months, for example, as opposed to 3-3.5 months? I get how they would know if there would be no AP at all, but how to determine the time frame when there is AP?

Strange- This morning they updated the embassy interview schedule to show only March.

And it looks like they have scheduled

450 total interviews

198 DV lottery interviews

252 family based visas-all they way back from 1998 till 2011

So I guess those that have a priority for their immedialy relatives will be caught up in interviews too

They is no way to tell which are spouse inteviews...but if I had to guess I would say there are like 65 applications in the year 2011-so that incudes spouses and kids...maybe 40 spouse visa interviews--just a guess

So they have less interviews

More then I expected but I had no clue they still have 200 DV and sooooo many old family ones.

The CO's will still have extra time to close their old cases!!!!!

Aww, thanks alot. As you can see I've been MIA from VJ altogether for a little while. I just logged in tonight and was happily surprised to see that MahaAhmed got the visa.

It helps keep my mind off things when I'm not checking VJ every five minutes to find approvals... Lol. I feel I've acquired all the info I need for the next step so I'm trying to be less OCD about being online. I downgraded my email options to only give me a daily email instead of after every post on every topic i'm interested in. School is keeping me busy and I come home soooo tired so I am being occupied with something other than immigration issues thankfully.

Good luck to all those awaiting visas and a speedier AP to all...

I am not very sure but from what I read when I was researching like crazy people seem to think it depends on what kind of checks they think will happen. For example sometimes they need to verify documents which takes more time and work. There is also the name check which I think depends on when the case is sent to Washington or looked at. So I think it's a combination maybe they see how many things need to be checked and they estimate it on past cases?

Btw I found out why the visa my husband got is only 4 months instead of 6...it runs with the medical exam so it expires when the results of the exam expires. thought I'd share that info.

My husband case (I was told by a DOS worker) has been at USCIS since the date of his interview waiting for background checks. They were ordered the date of the interview. His file is still in the same place waiting for someone to review it but there is always a backlog on reviews.

If he gets a name hit then the process can take longer

I believe the CO can see if there already was a name hit

or if they want to spy on your phone calls or chat conversation more it will take longer

and I think based on what the CO has in front of them they know the last cases they had with a name problem took so many months to clear

or whatever

The CO knows most everything even if they act like they do not know anything.

ANd we will never know what they know

I agree I think the CO knows a lot and that's how they give you the estimate. Like false name hits are probably in the file that reaches them. Also if documents need verification it's also probably right infront of them. So once the CO knows which checks are needed they can base the time on what they know is the current backlog.

The one we had gave my husband a paper that specifically said 4-6 weeks my guess is she told him 1-2 months because she knew his name was common and might yak longer. Elhamdollah though they finished at a good rate.

Btw together don't worry too much about him getting a job or you will drive yourself crazy like I am :P my husband is in a very specific field I don't think it would be easy here but I think I'll worry about that when the time comes. Inshallah things will just work out for all of us.

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

I changed 3 people on the above so that the AP list would be accurate

Monalisa has a post asking when she should leave so I am ASSUMING she got her visa

Horees--I found out that was his 2nd interview

Patiently waiting got his visa dec 5th

Wendy I hope your day is going well. I'm thanking god it's Friday :)

Together still master of research! Wish more ppl updated their timelines so they'd be more accurate information. Good news is ours will be a good reference for future couples.
