This definitely does help, thanks so much. So I guess you all are still waiting too? I just figured that when they said we should expect to get the visa in a week, that was a maximum projection? Or at the very least, that it would be no more than the 1-2 week window. I hope that it does in fact turn out not be much longer of a wait, but we'll see what happens.

I think most of the people on here are waiting as well. It's hard to tell real timelines of getting visas because not everyone updates their timeline. My guess though is the embassy has a lot going on because they are processing people that have been waiting since June. So maybe this is why visas are taking a bit longer? Not sure but to me that's what it looks like. Hopefully you guys will have yours soon in sha'a Allah.

I think Maha is right about the embassy taking long bcuz they are trying to catch up and take on a load that they usually take in 5 month in just 2 months. It just sucks bcuz some people are getting the short end of the stick...I had to wait 6 months for an interview and now im Waiting for the visa...anyway, I am really hoping to hear news about the visa issued this week IsA ya rab! Please remember me and those waiting In your prayers....and that those going for an interview are approved and get their visas soon isa!

Anybody hear from people that had their interviews in November? I would love to hear about it bcuz many people are, or will soon be in post interview pre visa in hand phase. Would love to hear what's going on.

An update on my case: most recently the embassy said pending consular review. I think the embassy is annoyed of me bcuz I stalk email then very frequently. From my experience, the department of state is useless to call.

It sounds reasonable. I do wonder why the same people who do AP would be the same people working interviews..... I think it can also be that they increased interview slots but did not create more jobs in the back office that does AP investigations.

Also, when I look at the AP averages, it looks like 2 months is pretty average. That is if someone goes to AP and not just consular review while waiting for newly submitted documents to be completed. Hmmmm that explains it!! The people who interviewed that had to submit more documents now have to wait till the CO reviews your file again. and the CO's are very busy doing extra interviews.

Ok, my final answer (Guess) is Nababdurrahman is correct!

Nababdurrahman,

I am sorry for your suffering. You are definetely getting the short end of the stick on this Cairo solution to get thru the backlog of cases. I am very sorry for you and the others from November. I have not heard of one November interviewee getting the visa. There were 5 of one. One of them is delaying getting his visa for a year or something but the others have not updated yet.

The last post's URLs don;t work...the ones below should.

Somebody messaged me asking what they need for the interview so I figured I would just post it to let others benefit...

For those of you going in for an interview, here is a checklist of what you will need. It is not necessary that they will ask you for all of this, but do not give them any excuse to delay.

BRING THE FOLLOWING WITH YOU TO YOUR INTERVIEW:

- 4 or more (5cm x 5cm) passport pictures with a white background

-military paper (and by the way, you don't need to have it translated because it is going to Cairo--my husband went through a hassle getting them officially translated and then we found out we didn't even have to have that done because the language in Egypt is Arabic. You would have to get it translated if it was like in German and your interview was in Cairo or vice versa)

-medical check report (make sure they seal it very well because if it is tampered with then they can refuse it). Check out this site for more info on the medical report.

http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/ivmei.html

-a copy of your marriage certificate so that they can replace it with the original

-a copy of any other documents that you want back (if they have original birth certificate, etc.). If you don't want your originals back then you don;t have to bring copies

-your passport, make sure it is valid for at least 6 more months

-all of your evidence (it may or may not be looked at, but you obviously want to have it just in case-pictures & phone logs seem to be sufficient)

-the letter from the NVC that states that you have an interview (that's what they email you to inform you that you have an interview. They email you an attachment that is 4 pages long)

-an updated US income tax return

-85 pounds for DHL

Check out this website just in case I forgot anything:

Why do you need to bring military paper to embassy again? Wouldn't they have already requested the original during NVC stage (IV packet)?

Question: If my husband sends me his police certificate now, and according to him it is valid for only 3 months, assuming we get our NOA2 after our 5 months end (end of February), do we just bring an updated one to the interview? Or should I just have him wait a bit to send it to me? He also will be sending me all the official documents needed for IV packet for NVC, including signed DS-230 (part 1). Is it vetter to have everything now or wait a little until January? I'm worried that on the slightest chance that NOA2 will come before the 5 months are up, that I won't have all the documents needed for NVC. Anyone have any advice for me? Thanks in advance! :)

On the NVC letter it says that the military papers are not necessary, which is why we didn't have it at the interview but when we got to the embassy the lady asked for it...and Lord knows we can't argue with them or tell them we didn't need it. When my husband told him he didn't have it, the lady said it was okay but nothing would move forward without it...so better to bring it and be safe than sorry.

You can just bring an updated police certificate to the interview with you...that's what we did as well. Submit all of your papers and then bring updated ones for those with an expiration date (I think the only one is the police report). But if you aren't asked to submit the papers to the NVC yet then I would suggest that you wait because the NVC won't accept expired papers...and once you send new papers to them it takes 20 days for them to review them and put them in your case (So one mistake can delay the process about a month). It is better to just have the correct papers ready and send them to them once, which would mean a quicker closing date.

While it's good to plan ahead, have him send all of your papers maybe a month before you expect to get your NOA2.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I don't understand this either. It is very frustrating. I had my interview 3 weeks ago and still nothing! I am happy that we are not in AP, but I don't care what we are in, It doesn't matter if they call it AP or Consular officer's review....I just want the visa in hand! At least we are all in the same boat and it is nothing unusual with our cases. I imagine it is in a few more days, but it is an annoying process.

So have you also been getting the daily "scheduled for delivery as agreed" notifications? I guess the one we should be looking out for is "Out for Delivery" right?

I am trying to track my file using the dhl.com website. I cannot do it. I found 6 other countries. I cannot find any going to egypt.

The AVR at NVC states it was sent to the embassy on Dec 12th.

Can anyone find my package and tell me how they did it and what the way bill number is?

Thank you
