Yes, I did all the paper work while I was there. My son now has an American passport and can travel when ever now... the process was so quick compared to my wife who's paper work was submitted on Jan 2011 almost one year ago!

ok i did the same thing but they told me at the embassy since my son was born in egypt if the father is not traveling with the mom you will need to get him an egyption passport other wise u might have a problem in the airport i didnt even believe that so on my way back to the states i asked an immgration officer in cairo airport and he said yes he needs an egyption passport with his birth cirtifcate to be shown to leave egypt

Then I would suggest just calling the NVC...since it is easy to get a hold of a representative it is best if you call them And talk directly.

Thanks for the information I will have my wife get my son an Egyptian passport to as well just to be on the safe side.

UPDATE!!!! Good news everyone my wife has been approved for her Visa! The interview went fast! She said the lady was nice, and asked her only a few questions..When did you get married? What I do for a living? Do we have any kids? Then asked for pictures. Then said that she was approved, and took her passport and said that this should ship via DHL in about one week or two. I'm happy she got approved. I will keep you all updated once her visa arrives! Good luck everyone!

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

Congrats! Now it seems like things are rolling for Interviews...let them get rolling for issuing visas ya rab!

Do you guys think an update from the department of state or from the US embassy in Cairo is more reliable about my case?

Just to update....our interview went very well, we were out by 11am and final result......APPROVED!!!!!!!! :dance:

She kept his passport and said he may get it back in 1-2 weeks!!! YAY!!

Can't begin to describe the feeling of relief and elation we are still feeling...I will provide interview details later, am at work now :innocent:

Thanks to everyone for their help, support and encouragement and best wishes to all still waiting.
