I was thinking of just getting a notarized letter from the person who introduced us, is that enough, or do I need more letters?

Also, what information should be in the letter?

who

what

when

where

and

why

if you're going to do that might as well get a few more people such as your grandparents, uncle, whoever in vietnam that can help. best way is to email it to them and let them sign it and then snail mail it back to you so you can get it notarized. no point in doing just one. 3-5 is good.

They aren't necessary. Affidavits are usually used if you lack evidence.

Unless you are seriously lacking in other credible evidence then don't bother with this. Affidavits from friends and family are the least reliable form of evidence because it's presumed that they have a motive to lie on your behalf. A letter from the person who introduced you could even backfire. It's better if it appears that the person who introduced you had nothing whatever to do with the immigration process.

Well meaning, but technically inaccurate. When a notary in the US places their stamp on a document they are certifying that the signatory presented satisfactory identification and that they witnessed the signature. They won't notarize a document that's already been signed.

I included the affidavit from my aunt who introduced me to my now wife. It was 2 paragraphs basic information how, who, where. It was signed and notarized. At the interview, they did not care to take it. My aunt insisted in including it since she was worried. The document was a 'just in case' scenario.

Get a letter from you employer. The letter basically state that he/she approved your leave of absense from work to register for your marriage license in vietnam, prepare for your engagement & wedding reception, or vacation just to visit her. My manager wrote a nice letter stating that he is willing to provide testimony of our relationship with his direct contact information on it. Just make sure he/she knows about your relationship with your wife..enough to answer the CO questions if they call. Talk to him/her in advance. My boss also willing to get the letter notarize but i thought it might rise questions to the CO as being way to prepare so i didn't get it notarize. My wife also told me to get letters from friends and relatives..but given our 56 pages timeline i didn't have time to do it.
