I am new to the board as I have recently thought about possibility of bringing my mother in the USA. I was just wondering what are the rates of petitions being denied? and what are the reasons usually? Right now she has had her 2nd visa approved to the USA, so if there are a lot of petitions being denied I dont want to risk her tourist visas for the future trips.

I would really appreciate your help.

thank you

Welcome to VJ!

Visas for parents very rarely get denied if you have everything in order:

- Can prove she is indeed your mom (in some cases, a DNA test is required)

- Have the means to support her (as per I-864, and if she is elderly, may require proof of health insurance)

- She has no major criminal convictions, drug use, or overstays in the USA.
