Medical and interview question

I'm about to send NVC DS-230, last documents. After that, just waiting on medical and interview. Does the U.S. consulate assign you the interview date first, so you can get the medical prior to the interview? Or do they assign both medical date and interview date? As I understand, they assign you an interview date, and you have to get the medical done by yourself before the actual interview. Am I correct? Our U.S. consulate is in Chennai, India BTW.

Thank you,

Tony

That's how it works in Canada, you do your own medical appointment before the interview appt. You bring the medical results in a sealed envelope with you to the appt. It is a separate fee plus three passport type pictures for the medical/.

Good Luck!

In most countries you get a packet from the embassy giving you a list of accepted physicians you can see for the medical. the packet will have instructions for all you need to do. And yes, you have must bring the medical exam reports to the interview. If in sealed envelope, don't open it. Any sealed envelopes are to be opened by the receipent only.Hope this helps.
