I think I returned my NS plates and got a partial refund for them!

Danu - wow that sucks, how long did it take for your wad or gc? I can still get plates tho correct? My IcBC rep has told me numberous times I must mail back the plates, which sounds odd to me, I still have my old Ontario plates.

There are a few states in the US like that. The insurance company is not released from liability until the plates are turned into the state.

Not sure about BC cuz their insurance is different, but I kept my ontario plates. It took 50 some odd days for my EAD and I think another month from that for my GC. I didn't register or get my DL until I had my EAD. I already had my SSN, which the insurance company did not need, but they registered me with my Canadian DL and plates until I was able to get the state ones, under the condition that I had to do it immediately when able (which wasn't a problem because thats pretty much CA state law too). Didn't get dinged on the registration because they took my residency date as the date on my EAD.

Kept my Ontario plates too they were my first ever plates I got!
