In my case kasi, my surname in my passport is still that of my ex and in the approved K1 petition the name that appears there is my name in my birth certificate. here's the case..

Passport= married name used

on the K1 petition=she used the name what is on her birth cert.

still the same person right??

I'm not really sure but I think they will issue the visa on the name that's written in the passport. Ex? Ex-husband? It would've been better if she had the name on her passport changed back to her maiden name.

I've read here from VJ before about someone who got approved but gotten a white slip. The CO asked her to change her passport first to the ones they used on their forms before a visa will be issues. Maybe you can look up the threads again..

if i am in her case, i would get a passport in my maiden name.....

because when she comes over to the US, her passport will be the basis of everything....

this is just my personal opinion.....

Why won't your friend amend her passport? Doesn't she feel awkward using her "married" passport on her K1 petition? I would...

(and), I will also question her about it if I was/am the CO.

A visa applicant may use her maiden or married name in her passport. The visa application will be processed and the visa will be approved (if qualified) under the name indicated in the applicant’s passport issued by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) office.

Please note however, that a consular officer mayrequire the submission of additional information, documentation or question an applicant on any relevant matter whenever the officer believes that the information already provided is inadequate to determnie the applicant's eligibility to receive a visa.
