Vaccinations and POE forms questions

Just when I thought we were done with all the questions for a while. First for the China experts, my wife got the initial round of vaccines in Guangzhou and she has the yellow book. Now that she has the yellow book can she get the follow up shoots in Chengdu and just have them logged in the yellow book? Or does she need to wait until she arrives here? Since she is coming over in september it will pass the date for the next round of shots so we're hoping we can get them while she is in china.

Second question is on what forms she will have to complete since she is on a CR-1 visa. We know the customs form, but will she need to complete the I-94 also? The things I have found say yes and no. Is there any other form she needs to complete?

More shot, I thought the shot were completed at the embassy medical prior to interview. And what follow up shot I never heard of it. My wife also has the yellow book as well. waiting for a reply tooo

we got the visa in our hand today sat. 12pm saturday on the 18th. Interview on 16th. 2 days for visa

Hehe. It's never done. Some of the Vaccines are a series of three shots over a period of time. Her visa has the 212 code that indicates there are more vaccines to be completed.

1. she can have additional shots in Chengdu and have them logged in the yellow book.

2. is no I-94 for a CR-1 visa - instead - she will get a stamp in her passport, that turns the visa stamp into a temporary I-551 document, a 1 year green card, so to speak. She'll receive the actual green card via postal mail within 45 days of entering the USA. About 3 weeks after she arrives in USA, get her to a SSA office, apply for SSN, insist on SAVE database lookup with the A# and the VISA NAME - if they can't find her, come back each week until they do, then apply for SSN in VISA NAME .

2.a. - nope, no other forms to complete for the visa itself - just hand carry the big envelope, drop it off with a CBP human at the POE.

2.b. - if she's contemplating school, bring some school transcripts

2.c. - bring extra original white book for marriage certificate and birth certificate - you might need to show these at some point for silly things like banking, insurance addition, rental agreements, etc.

So no more required shot to actually pass POE. will the POE keep all the seal document in the Visa packet?

For me it will be to late to get extra white book.

When is the best time to change her old family name to my last name? The visa saids her dad last name.

sealed packet is gathered up at CBP at the POE.

re: change of name - unsure how to tell ya, to get the greencard issued in any 'married' name, at this stage. Might be some wiggle room at the POE, but must talk to CBP human, usually the shift supervisor or an Immigration Official in Secondary. Can't say it's gospel, to change it there. But that IS the last place she'll see an immigration official, before the green card is produced and mailed to your USA address.

Can get it set/changed at SSA office, to show married name, when you're ready to set up joint banking stuff, but for her other ID documents? Unsure, really, at this point.

I seem to recall some previous posts where the people basically filled out their customs and immigrations forms with their married name and along with the passport and marriage certificate the CBP folks do some magic.

Can I accompany my wife at the CBP at the POE, me and my wife will be flying back together. Or do we have to split up when we land a the POE airport?

Generally you can go with her through customs. If she gets taken in to secondary, I don't think you can go with her then. When you get to the area where it splits off foreigners from US citizens/Green Card holders. Just tell the officer that it is your wife coming over on a CR-1 or K-1 visa and they will usually let you go through with them.

You can chat with them, but if she's taken into secondary usually that's by herself. YOU CAN TALK to any shift supervisor, but you must ask for them spcifically, expect to be taken out of the queue, wait a bit.

USUALLY, you two should stay together in whichever line you get into, whether it be USCitizen line or non-resident line (doesn't matter) as it makes her entry at the desk less painful than if you two were in seperate lines.

IF you have any issues to broach (name change, IR-1 dates, etc) then is best to do it right then and there, get a shift supervisor - they usually have broader knowledge for 'what you need and want' then the fella stamping the passport at the desk in the line.
