Out of curiosity, when you received the RFE, how much of a time frame were you given to send further evidence? And did the envelope have any clear signs that it was from USCIS?

I am only asking because I am heading abroad with my wife for 12 days, and wanted to make sure I would not be caught short.

We were given 3 months to respond. The envelope came in a Department of Homeland Security regular #10 envelope and the paper inside that showed through the window was blue.

Just received my card in the mail!

So I too got an RFE the day before yesterday........Feb 6th.......

I dont get it !

I sent in with the inital ROC appliaction:

- Tax Transcripts 2009 and 2010 filing married joointly

- Rental Agreements for the first apartment we moved into and for the second we just moved out of,the latter even had a Statement from the Manager stating that we lived there together from March 2010 until present

- A letter from my sons teacher stating that we both come to conferences and that my Husband takes as much responsibility for my son as I do

- My life insurance policy naming my Husband as Beneficiary ( at that time he had none yet)

-Auto Insurance Cards naming both of us

- Car Titles to both cars in both our names

- Car Loan papers naming both of us

- Bank account Statements showing that we have a joing checking and savings account

- utility bills in my name and in my Husbands going to the same address

- Family Pictures we had taken at a studio and a few unprofessional regular pics of us

STILL got an RFE

So now with the RFE packet I will send:

- Tax Transcripts again

-My life insuarnace policy again and my Husbands now that he has one through the VA that names me as the Beneficiary

- Car Loan Papers again in both our names

- A Statement from our Bank and Auto Insurance as to when Hubby added me ( Bank April 2009 Auto Insurance just before I got my DL in 8/2010) a letter from the Bank that says that ever since April 09 I have been a Customer in good standing with them. ( Its USAAfor Military and Vets only so without Hubby I could not be a Customer there)

- Hubbys VA Disability Award naming me and my son as dependants

-My letter from the VA that states that I am my Husbands family Caregiver and receive a Stipend for that

- A Statement from my Boss and friend that she knows James and that we have a completley normal marriag

- W 2s from 2010 and 2011 for both of us going to the same exact address

- Copy of our DL's showing same exact address

- Copy of our AAA membership cards

-Copy of my sons student profile having my Husband listed as father and emergency contact

- Copy of my sons IEP listing us as parents and signed by both of us

Are RFEs computer generated ????

There is no touch on my case at all.

We sent in few Bank Statements because even though I do have access to Hubbys account ( joint account),

my money goes to an account in my name only. Reason we did it that way is because Hubby has very bad credit and I had to establish credit. We DO pay all bills together though and Hubby has my Debit card on countless occassions,it really only was for credit score reasons.

Which already paid off because the last car we bought two months ago,they wanted to put Hubby and me on it again but then when they ran my info they asked if I wanted to do it in my name only since that would drop the interest from 25.9 % to 10.9 %.Needless to say thats what we did.

Same with Utilities, Hubbys bad credit made it the smarter idea to put my name on Cable,Electric and Phones instead of his.

Obviously all our Lease Agreements are in both of our names though..........

Vet'swife - I completely understand your frustration. We sent in EVERYTHING possible with our application and got an RFE in January. Had an info-pass appointment to find out EXACTLY what was needed. The guy told me to resend in everything I sent in before because most likely what happened is that either they lost our documentation or it got separated from the application so they need all the documents - AGAIN. So we sent in updated info of everything we sent before.

Updated the spreadsheet with last months data. CSC increased it's approval time by ANOTHER 53 days but all of us that are left are still past the estimated approval dates. VSC increased it's approval time by ANOTHER 22 days (part of the reason for increase was because someone who applied September 2010 just got approved). VSC approvals should be rolling in this month.
