Question for those who have not yet received their 10 year card. What do you use as proof that you have an extention on you expired GC while waiting for you 10 year card? I have searched all over husbands biometric appointment letter and I don't see anything on it. We went to our biometric appointmen on 8.19 and they stamped and initialed the letter - will that suffice? Was it on the NOA letter?

Thanks!

It's on the NOA1. :) That's what I presented when travelling in the summer (along with my expired greencard) before I had received my 10 year greencard.

A whole bunch of peoples dates. I honestly only noticed it because my dates were all wrong. When I went through and corrected, using the list on here, I found LOTS of dates incorrect.

I know early on my dates were wrong such as bio so I corrected that. It had me down as the 14th I think but I did it on the 4th. My send date might be wrong too but I can't remember :/

CONGRATS!!!! Was the date on the letter Oct 28 or was that the date you got it?

So it turns out my change of address failed somehow. I got the notice of approval dated the 20th October this week and it was forwarded by the post office last sat with old address on it so I phoned up to ask why. Turns out it's a good job I calle eofre the 30 days because they tried to deliver my greencard on the 29th October to old address and I had till the 13th nov to get it redelivered or it gets sent back. So lady gave me the tracking number and hubby tried to puk it up from post office on Thursday and post office can't find it nor yesterday. As far as USPS is concerned it should be at that post office. And the post office system says it's in transit. They have freeking lost it I'm so pissed. I now have to phone before 8 am (yeah with a month old on my arms keepin me up all night) to see if the letter carrier is there to ask if he remembers what he dis with it. :( the others think he may have forwarded it an not scanned it when he did. An our old manage didn't call us to tell us we had a notice left even though she said she would inform us if any mail slipped by. :( so upset about this I don't have time for this mess and the lady on the phone this time said she changed my address as well and I should get a notice to that effect in 15 days.

OMG I'm so sorry this happened to you!

The same thing happened to us with the original green card. I had changed address the entire process over and over checking and being assured that the new address was the right one. Even at POE they asked for address and wife gave the new address.

Post Office was no help they couldn't tell anything and basically said it would be sent back or held but not forwarded. those days did not use trackable priority mail.

i was sooo mad because USCIS said we would have to pay the $395 or whatever fee because it was our fault it was lost.

Well ultimately I was able to fill out I-90 form and not pay fees because I had documentation of changing the address so many times, correspondence names dates times etc, they had no chaoice but to admit fault and send a new card.

the waiting and hassle were almost as bad as the CR-1!!

I hope you get it quickly so that you can concentrate on what is most important, your life your baby and continue living without this hassle!

oh, hannah, my girl.

f*cking post office. (and i say that with love...)

glad you followed up. so sorry the change of address was not straight forward despite your best efforts.

dont waste too much energy on USCIS. spend it on that little lady and the stupid green card will fall into place. (this will all be a foggy memory soon!)

We just moved in to a different state 10 days ago and did the "Change of Address" online.

remember that the change of address process is not just online. you need to fill out the ar-11 (non-USC) AND the I-865 (USC) and mail them in. additionally, you can call USCIS to change/confirm the change. you probably know this already, but since it's sometimes overlooked by people, thought i'd mention it!

This is actually not the case. From https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.Terms:

"If you choose to use this online electronic change of address notification, please do not mail in a Form AR-11. On the other hand if you choose not to use this online tool and instead choose to mail in a paper Form AR-11 please understand that doing so will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS."

We only filled out the online from after our AOS.. and just filed the I-751 with the new address. No need to complicate things.

So update of post office loosing my greencard.

I phoned pre 8 am as they told me and the woman who answered refused to listen to what I was saying and told me to call back after 8:30 when they open. Even though I said their collegue told me to call then.

Then my mil checked the the tracking number for the package and we found out where it went. >:( even though the USCIS lady said it stated I had 15 days from the 28th october to either rearrange redelivery or pick up efore they send it back to sender it arrived at the USCIS center today. So they didn't wait to send it back and the whole time it was meant to be at the post office it was in fact onnits way back to USCIS. I now have a service request for then to redelivery it to my new address. So pissed with the post office right now.:(
