I am just wondering as I don't quite understand all the AOS, etc paperwork, processing times. About how long after you file are you able to work? Which form actually grants you the greencard? We're not getting married for 7 weeks, but just wanting to get my ducks in a row.

1) I485 grants you GC

2) Together with I485 package you also submit form I765 which is free if you are submitting them together. This is called EAD and allows you to work until you get GC

3) It takes about 2 months to EAD (which allows you to work) and 3-4 months to GC.

Bear in mind that the I-485 and I-751 are application forms. Submitting them to USCIS doesn't, by itself, grant you anything. When they're approved then you'll get the associated cards, and either card gives you permission to work in the US.
