Used them once to send my daughter money in the UK and will never use them again.

Basically, they screwed up and didn't send the money and it took me over 2 months of hours and hours off phone calls to get it back.

If you got the coupon code, you can just pay either half or zero transaction fee..

OH NO that was not good to hear, 2 months? Why that long for taking back your money? I just wish it wouldn't happen to us.

Good question on why it took so long. They just panned me off with one supervisor to another. Kept making excuses and promises.

I had to email them documentation from my bank that they received the money and they had the balls to tell me "Well we didn't receive it"

I used xoom to send money to myself while I was there to get married. Sent the 2999 max ammount and had trouble collecting it at SM store Mall of Asia. Ended up at BDO and took an hour there. Then you have a huge wad of 1000 peso notes. IMO not worth all the hassle.

I also sent 100 to my wife before I went and it went smoothly.

I opened a BDO bank account with her after we were married and have used xoom once since I returned to the USA and the money was there in like 2 hours.

For going there I reccomend just buying a money belt under your clothes and exchanging at BDO when you get there. BDO exchange rate was better than Edmons or any of the other places I checked and you get a better rate than xoom gives and you save transaction fee as well as all the time.

To send money there if you have a bank account then zoom is good.
