HI...

I have my SSN card in my "new name" but my passport and K-1 paperwork is all in my old name. I want my AOS/EAD/AP in my new name and will change my passport as soon as I am done with AOS/EAD/AP process is finished. Do I complete this paperwork from now on in my new name?

My answer to 11. is NO (I have never applied for work authorization in the US before) - do I leave the next parts to that questions blank or write "none" or "N/A"?

What is my "current immigration status?" - my I-94 expired Feb 23, 2011... I entered on a K-1.

Thanks,

M

Adjusting from K-1

06/24/11 - mailed AOS/EAD/AP applications to Chicago Lockbox

06/29/11 - received email notification of arrival

08/05/11 - still no word on EAD - no RFE, no NOA... Wondering if this is something to worry about?!

08/11/11 - biometrics apt in Fairbanks (apt letter listed AOS only)

The name you use, is the name your cards will come in. If you want your new married name on everything, then use your married name all the forms for AOS.

We left the next questions that pertained to #11 blank, or you can fill in N/A

Your status is K-1 and your eligibility code is (C )(9 )

Hello,

I assume you already got married since you said that you have your new name or should we say "married name". I did the same thing I fill out all the forms my using my husband's last name since we are already married. you don't have to worry about your passport even if it's in your maiden name, in fact until now I'm still using my old passport with my maiden name on it and I never had an issue but if you prefer to change it then that's fine.

To answer your other question about your status if you haven't received your greencard then until now you're still under K-1 , and about the employment authorization you need that while waiting for your greencard if you want to work legally in the U.S.

I hope this helps.

THanks for the replies. Very helpful, both of you.

I am hoping to have this ready to drop in the mail in the morning.
