Packet 3 - What can I do now?

I received my NOA1 on Aug. 11, 2006 and I want to start collecting any documents that I will need later. I was hoping someone could give a breakdown of any documents, such as policy reports, that I could accumulate now and use later? Are there time restrictions? Could I make my medical apt now? As I am sure that I am completely transparent, I am trying to get as much done now, so the process can move forward as fast as possible (I know, wishful thinking but I need to do something other then sit pretty and wait for our petition to be approved!).

MANY thanks for all your advice and guidance!

Here's a quick run-down of the checklist from Vancouver:

Step One: complete DS-230 Biographic Data (Part 1) (to be faxed to the consulate as soon as you receive Packet 3)

Step Two: obtain the following documents

- passport (must have at least 6 months validity beyond issuance date of visa)

- arrange for a medical examination by a panel physician (see embassy info on top) - you cannot do this until you have the case number that is assigned by NVC; if you don't have an immunization record, you could go for blood tests checking for vaccinations you already have and/or get your vaccinations (check this thread for more info)

- original birth certificate (with parents names on it)

- police certificate (ask for a canada-wide search) - certificates must be less than one year old on the day of the visa appointment; a fingerprint search is required if you have a criminal record

- certified copies of court and prison records (if applicable)

- 5 passport-sized photographs (full, front-face view against white or off-white background)

- divorce/death certificates

- evidence of support - to be completed by the petitioner (Form I-134 Affidavit of Support, his/her bank statements, letters from banks confirming accounts, pay stubs, notarized copies of income tax returns)

- same documents above for accompanying children (except police certificate if under the age of 16)

- evidence of relationship

- $100 in US funds (cash in exact change or money order)

Step Three: Complete form DS-156 and DS-156K

Step Four: Fax the checklist back as soon as all documents have been obtained

If you have any questions on any of the above, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability

alot of it you can start gathering now, but they won't schedule you a medical appointment until you have your interview letter from teh consulate.

You can go see your regular doctor tho to either get your vaccination records, or have them draw blood for titres. see the www.panelphysicians.com website for the list of vaccinations required for your age group. As a Canadian you probably don't need any, except tetanus, as you'd have already had them in order to attend school.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card
