My fiance and I intend to marry in Germany within 2-3 months. We plan to live together after we are married for 6 months. My fiance says that 1 week after living with him in Germany we are required to register (my) name and place of residence with the authorities. This will be an official document stating that I am living with him. Is this sufficient evidence of our relationship to prove that my fiance and I have joint tenancy of a common residence? My fiance is trying to avoid informing the landlord about my presence in the case that it would cause problems since his apartment is only for 1 person. Thanks to any anyone who can advise. Looking at the Frankfurt Embassy Web Site; http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/uscis/i130/

Evidence Of Residence

We require evidence of petitioner's residence in Germany, such as a photocopy of a Certificate of Residence, a Foreigners' Permit to Stay, or a copy of the petitioner's orders if he/she is a member of the U.S. military stationed in Germany.

Is what your fiance referring to a Certificate of Residence?
