Hello fellow Brazillian k-1's... I am hoping someone has the answer to this.

We need to know if my fiancee has to get his "cartão de vacinação international" aka International Vaccination Card prior to the interview and (fingers crossed) departure... AND if he also needs something special to be able to drive here in the US. I heard about an international drivers license from AAA but when I looked at the site it said that this doesn't actually give you permission to drive but instead just translates your current drivers license and something about it being good for only up to 6 months. Apparently after that point he will have to apply locally for have been looking for answers and asking around but so far no one seems to know for sure.

Thank you all in advance for your replies and help along this way... finally starting to see the light at the end of this tunnel.

Has your noivo had his medical yet? If not, he's got to get a copy of his vaccinations for that anyway. IMO, it's not a bad idea - you may need to provide proof of vaccination for your vaccination transcripts (for your AOS) if the Brazilian civil surgeon doesn't give you a copy of the medical or if the American civil surgeon won't take it. (My husband got his vaccination records from the Red Cross - and I don't know if that's the same thing, I haven't seen it for about a year!)

As for driving, getting the Inter-American Driver's License should suffice until his green card arrives. Once his green card arrives, he'll need to apply for an American license. (Depending on your state, he may be able to get one while he's on the K1 or while AOS is pending.)
