Hi all,

I was just filling in the forms for A.O.S. and came across section 6 on the I-864. It asks for Alien Registration Number, is this the number on you Visa under the word "Annotation".

Also on form I-485 PART 1, it asks for I-94 #, is this the number under Departure Record on the I-94?

You have helped me so much in the past and I wanted to know for sure before I send off the forms.

Many Thanks

Dave :)

Your Alien Number (aka A number) may be on your visa itself. It is on mine, towards the bottom. If it's not on your visa (I'm not sure how the UK consulate does it), it will be on your approval notice from the I-129F (your NOA2). It will be something like A 087 - ### - ### (it may not start with 087, I've just seen a few people who filed in the last year have an A number starting with 087).

And yes, your I-94 number is the actual number printed on the I-94. I'm sure you knew this, but just to be safe - don't send the original i-94. Make a copy of the front and back, and send the copy instead.

Good luck with AOS! Come join us June filers :)

I'm looking at my CR1 visa from Feb 10. It is the number under "Registration Number". The "Annotation" section on my visa is something entirely different, so I doubt it would be that on yours :-) On my visa they wrote it with the first 0 omitted.

Thanks CBM,

I was sure the I-94 number was right I just wasn't sure about the Alien Registration number. Like you say the number that is on my visa under Annotation starts with A200 then there are another 6 numbers after that. I have the copies of the passport I-94 front and back as well as making copies of my medical info from London.

Thanks for the reply

Dave.

Hi JoanneV,

will the CR-1 be the same as the K-1 visa.

It looks like they are totally different, unless I am wrong.

Thanks

Dave :)

It CAN be but don't trust it. It is often incorrect. Check the NOA2 from your petition approval. It will be listed above the beneficiaries name.

The I-94 number is the number on the card I-94 yes.

Have a look at the AOS thread in my signature that has definitions and picture examples.

Do NOT trust the number on the visa. As this is actually typed in (and not automatically generated like on the NOA2) then human error comes into play.

I have also read instances where the A number on the visa is the A number of the naturalised USC that petitioned the K1. So ONLY trust the NOA2.

I know someone who had one on their NOA2, a different one on the visa (not a naturalised USC either) and a different one written by the CO at the POE. It was very confusing! Not to mention sometimes USCIS stuffs up when you file AOS and generates a new number for you when you should only have the one for life. So if they do that you need to contact them and get it fixed. That number is VERY important as it's your entire file information. Spread over multiple files it could get messy later :S
