Hi! I have submitted an application for adjustment of status for me and my son. We have issued a check with total amount of $ 1, 705 total fees in one check for our AOS, I-131, and I-765.

I have just received in the mail today all my returned documents including the issued check with several Notice of Action.

I have three parts of notifications from them:

1st - Addressed to me

This is in reference to the I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, you submitted. your I-485, fees and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reasons:

the check amount is incorrect, or has not been provided.

2nd - Addressed to me

This is in reference to the I-131, Application for Travel document, you submitted. Your I-131, fees and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reasons:

the check amount is incorrect, or has not been provided.

3rd - Addressed to my son

This is in reference to the I-131, Application for Travel document, you submitted. Your I-131, fees and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reasons:

the check amount is incorrect, or has not been provided.

Please help me understand what should we do. What amount should be in each check? How many checks should we issue for my son (9 yrs old) and I for I-485, I-131 and I-675? Isn't I-131 and I-675 no fee if applied together with I-485?

Please help. Thank you. God bless.

I am confused because in their site it states that a child applying AOS with one parent is $635 and does not require Biometrics. Then my son's I-131 is free if applied with AOS. Why is it that they are saying incorrect I-131 fees?

So this will correct the fees then with one check under my name with the amount of $1,070 and the other $635 check on my son's name? Also, I'd like to make sure if the I-131 and I-675 will be free with this application.

Thanks. God bless.

You can try that. It should have been fine with one check though. However, since they returned it, try sending the check for $1070 with your name in the memo, and a check for $635 with your son's name in the memo. Yes, the fees for the I-131 and I-765 are waived when filing with the AOS.

You could also list everything in the cover letter, showing what is for you, and what is for your son, stating his age again. Seems silly and redundant, but hey, they see a lot of applications. It might help to have stuff spelled out for them right there on the front page.

Ok. Thanks for your help. We'll give this a try. We'll go to the bank tomorrow and have our check changed into separate check and prepare a cover letter that will really specify everything.

Have a good day! God bless.
