It seems like we received similar requests!

The way I look at it is I cannot show them what I don't have, since my old passport has been returned to my government. Therefore, I believe that they will understand that. My feeling is they only ask this to verify travel dates - we are legal residents and passports are not required to live and obtain citizenship here.

My husband's old passport is cancelled and than returned to him but we are not sure where the actual passport is... It has been cancelled since Jan 2008. He used his new passport for his visa. He has never been back to India so no issue of travel dates to verify..

Just out of curiosity - are you receiving these because you signed up on uscis.gov online case tracking or is it to do with the G-1145? Since AOS and ROC did not have such "luxuries", I am baffled by

You can register on uscis.gov and they will send you emails telling you where they are in the process. We got an email saying they had mailed a biometrics notice so I knew it would be coming soon!

I received my interview letter in mail yesterday. My interview is scheduled for October 19, 2011 at 26 Federal Plaza, New York City. Good luck to everyone.

N-400 based on 3 year marriage to a US Citizen:-

DO: New York City

November 2007 - Got I-751 approved & received 10 year Green Card.

June 14, 2011 - Mailed N-400 package by USPS Express mail to Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - N-400 package received by USCIS lockbox at Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - Priority Date

June 17, 2011 - Check cashed.

June 20, 2011 - EMAIL NOTIFICATION, Will recv Receipt Notice (Form I-797) in 7-10 day

June 23, 2011 - Received I797c NOA in mail.

June 23, 2011 - Received Biometrics mailed text/email

June 27, 2011 - Received Biometrics notice in mail (Appt date: 07/15

July 08, 2011 - Walk-In Biometrics done.

July 12, 2011 - Received email stating "Placed in line for interview scheduling."

Sept 12, 2011 - Received text/email stating "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview."

I'm so frustrated. It has been 16 days after my interview, and I still haven't received a letter with the RFE. I went 2 days ago to the immigration (infopass), and the person I talked to said he doesn't know what is going on, that I should have received the letter, he got my phone number and said he was going to call me to let me know what is going on. No call so far. I have no idea what to do anymore, helpsmilie.gif

If you got a recommendation for approval on the day of your interview, I am guessing the RFE noted in the status website is just a glitch. But I also read some cases that got RFE even after approval.

The IO told me that it can take 2-3 months to get my oath ceremony scheduled. After my interview (to which I got an approval), I didn't have any changes on my status online until 3 days that indicates I was placed in queue for oath scheduling.

That INFOPASS appointment is weird. I didn't know they can call you about your case statusunsure.gif

Did you try to call the USCIS number?

So its been over 30 days since I received my interview letter and interview cancellation letter. Since I still haven't heard anything about my interview being rescheduled, i called the 1-800 number. I spoke to one guy who then passed me on to a higher customer service person or something. He made a request to my Benefits center for my new interview schedule and he also put a note in with the dates I'll be out of the country in October. He said i should hear something by October 1st. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

November 2007 - Got I-751 approved & received 10 year Green Card.

June 14, 2011 - Mailed N-400 package by USPS Express mail to Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - N-400 package received by USCIS lockbox at Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - Priority Date

June 17, 2011 - Check cashed.

June 20, 2011 - EMAIL NOTIFICATION, Will recv Receipt Notice (Form I-797) in 7-10 day

June 23, 2011 - Received I797c NOA in mail.

June 23, 2011 - Received Biometrics mailed text/email

June 27, 2011 - Received Biometrics notice in mail (Appt date: 07/15

July 08, 2011 - Walk-In Biometrics done.

I am starting to feel depressed my status hasn't changed at all.. Last update was 7/26 when i was placed in line for interview scheduling.. I guess NY office is quite busy.. Happy for people who got their appts. already. Goodluck everybody!

I'm so frustrated. It has been 16 days after my interview, and I still haven't received a letter with the RFE. I went 2 days ago to the immigration (infopass), and the person I talked to said he doesn't know what is going on, that I should have received the letter, he got my phone number and said he was going to call me to let me know what is going on. No call so far. I have no idea what to do anymore, helpsmilie.gif

Note sure what is RFE. I had my interview in San Fran in Aug, was recommended for approval and asked to have my oath scheduled in Sep (based on what I know about oath schedule at Paramount Theater Oakland). The oath letter somehow never arrive, a week before Sep, I called USCIS (could not work out how to check status online and info pass seemed too long winded and useless), got the good old run around but persisted eventually got through to level 2 officer (after 3 attempts), confirmed my oath date was on Sep 7 and was told oath letter is not required to attend the ceremony (note : expect a final run around on site without the letter though).

From my own experience at least, I think it is worthwhile to call USCIS. However, be prepared to develop a strategy to get through the endless rounds of run around when you call. When you eventually get through to a level 2 person (who is just as likely to dish out run around like a level 1), you can find out the actual status of your case.

Give USCIS a call if you are anxious about your case. The run around is unpleasant, but this may be a strategy USCIS relies on to ensure its line is not overloaded by casual callers (although I personally believe there are better, efficient ways to handle overloading concern and improve customer service experience as in private sector : just think about service level and efficiency of USPS vs UPS or FedEx; USPS is facing insolvency while its private sector peers are thriving and customers willingly pay more for same kind of services !)
