The basic answer is yes - you are allowed to travel without any restrictions. It does not affect your naturalization process unless you happen to be out of the country when your interview is scheduled - then you will either have to come back (change plans) or you need to reschedule your interview. If you reschedule, then it will delay your naturalization only because they have to send you a new interview date which will be pushed out another month or two but it is not going to be a punishment type of delay...

When you go to your interview, the IO will ask you if anything changed since you applied and you can mention the trip you took - they will note it in the application and move on with your interview... simple

Just out of curiosity - are you receiving these because you signed up on uscis.gov online case tracking or is it to do with the G-1145? Since AOS and ROC did not have such "luxuries", I am baffled by

You can register on uscis.gov and they will send you emails telling you where they are in the process. We got an email saying they had mailed a biometrics notice so I knew it would be coming soon!

And last but not least... Boston_Girl, good luck tomorrow!!!!

Had my interview last Wednesday. Everything went smooth and quick. Can't remember some of the test questions, but the hardest was "Why did the Colonies fight England".

Everything was complete within 60m including verifying everything in the paperwork submitted (to verify that I know what was submitted).

Some of the questions were "How many Senators, Who's the VP, What's one of the longest rivers, What is the last day to file taxes..."; don't remember any of the others.

Waiting for Oath Ceremony to be scheduled and find out the location of it as well.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Hi,

Somewhat strange regarding the Oath. She said it would be scheduled within 45 days and that I would get notification as to the date, time and place. I assumed it would have been Fort Smith, but she seemed to indicate that it could be Fort Smith or Fayetteville or some other location (in front of a justice). They've mailed the notification, so I'm just waiting to see what it says.

I just received a text/email stating "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days." Good luck to everyone.

N-400 based on 3 year marriage to a US Citizen:-

DO: New York City

November 2007 - Got I-751 approved & received 10 year Green Card.

June 14, 2011 - Mailed N-400 package by USPS Express mail to Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - N-400 package received by USCIS lockbox at Lewisville, TX

June 15, 2011 - Priority Date

June 17, 2011 - Check cashed.

June 20, 2011 - EMAIL NOTIFICATION, Will recv Receipt Notice (Form I-797) in 7-10 day

June 23, 2011 - Received I797c NOA in mail.

June 23, 2011 - Received Biometrics mailed text/email

June 27, 2011 - Received Biometrics notice in mail (Appt date: 07/15

July 08, 2011 - Walk-In Biometrics done.

July 12, 2011 - Received email stating "Placed in line for interview scheduling."

Sept 12, 2011 - Received text/email stating "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview."

Sept 15, 2011 - Received Intervew letter in mail.

Oct 19, 2011 - Interview at 26, Federal Plaza, New York City. PASSED.

Nov 18, 2011 - Oath ceremony.

Well - after looking online for a while, I was able to find out that the Houston Office naturalizes 1000+ each time they have a ceremony and it looks like they hold it once a month. Nothing online confirms the frequency or even lists the dates, but it looks that way to me... I guess these long waits I am experiencing are quite normal...

What can I do now? Oh - I guess I need to go back and wait some more... tongue.gif

Question-

Before receiving the interview letter, we received a yellow letter requesting us to bring the old passport. Now the questions is "the old passport has been cancelled since new passport is issued and the old one is back in India or here, we don't know. The new passport contains the old passport number and besides that it says "cancelled and returned." So when asked for old passport by not having it with us will it create any problem ? What do we do in this case ??" Please provide any insight...

It seems like we received similar requests!

The way I look at it is I cannot show them what I don't have, since my old passport has been returned to my government. Therefore, I believe that they will understand that. My feeling is they only ask this to verify travel dates - we are legal residents and passports are not required to live and obtain citizenship here.
