The pictures actually made me get teary eyed.

And whenever I see pics of the firemen rescuing people on 9/11 it really chokes me up. While those who crashed the planes cared nothing of the lives around them, and took their own lives in order to kill so many others, the fire and rescue units sacrificed their lives to try to save the lives of others.

I was watching the documentary on the "United 93" DVD, and this man who lost his wife was asked if he hated Osama biin Laden. He said, no, he didn't. He said he could not hate someone he didn't personally know. He said if he were to hate OBL without knowing him, he'd be just as guilty as the terrorists, because that's what they did: they were able to hate people they didn't know. That made them capable of committing these crimes.

I thought that was very profound.

What part of "personally know" do you not understand?

OBL and his bunch did not personally know any Americans, and yet they hate us enough to kill us, sight unseen. This man (whose wife was a flight attendant and was certainly one of the ones executed by the terrorists) doesn't want to sink to that level, to hate someone he's never personally met. He doesnt want to allow himself to be capable of such crimes.

Now that has NOTHING to do with justice. OBL & Al Qaeda perpetrated enormous crimes upon this country five years ago and they continue to this day. They should be captured and tried against the laws of this country, and wherever they have committed crimes. We should let the cold, uncaring rule of law dictate their fate, NOT our heated emotions. THAT is what that man was trying to say, or at least what I got out of it.

Lots of people hate others that they don't personally know(especially hating leaders in Govt), but know of. I see what you are saying though. But if you know who someone is as a person, and see their acts and hear their words, then it's easy to see why some would hate someone that stands for the things that they despise.
