Lining up interviews/job BEFORE arriving in the US.

I'll be arriving in the US in about 6 weeks (finally!). It'll be a good thing to start looking for a job from now while I'm still in Ireland so I'm working on my CV then to start sending it out...or should I wait till I get to the states?

1. Are there people on here that got their new job before arrival? Please share your experiences.

2. I have been with my current employer for the past several years so my CV needs a total revamp :). I've read that when recruiters see an overseas address, most times your CV gets tossed aside. Should I put a US address on the CV even though I'm not there yet?

3. What about the phone number? Should I put my Ireland phone number so I can be contacted? Will it be a minus against me? I was thinking there is no point putting a US number if I cant be reached on it.

I am in IT. I will appreciate VJers' input on this. Thank you!

I have a friend in HR and he told me that you should put both a permanent and temporary address on your resume. Since your plan is to move to the US you can put that address as permanent and you can put your "foreign" address as temporary. Then explain your situation in a cover letter! Good luck.
