Hi. My fiance just sent in packet 3 yesterday and his medical is scheduled for June 20th. Our wedding is already all planned and booked for August 7th and we're both terrified that he won't make it here in time. Can anyone offer any advice on what I can do to maybe expedite the process or an alternative if he doesnt make it? We both realize that we shouldnt have planned the wedding like this, but we can't really undo it now. Please help! Thank you!

I guess I should reword, I know there's no way to actually expedite the process, but as far as scheduling an interview goes how does that work if his medical is on the 20th? Is it even possible that he'll be here in time if we got the NOA2 in mid May?

NEVER Book Anything Until the Visa is in Hand. Anyone will tell you that.

Go through the Process and as each step is Completed then make arrangements for the next steps.

when you know the interview date, you can try to email the consulate to re-schedule it to an earlier date, if someone cancels the interview, you might be able to get that date, but there is no guarantee.

Did you include the readiness for interview form DS2001 and the cover letter stating the date of your wedding? That helps.

Also, you are going to get much better answers in the UK forum because each consulate is very different in how they handle the visa stage of the process. Time to leave K1 forum and jump to London experience. Here's a current thread that might help you Bringing interview date forward?

When he sent off packet 3 did he tell them his medical date was the 20th? Did he also tell them the wedding date? Often the Embassy will take note of such things, not in a huge queue jumping way but when a few days can make a difference they may try to accommodate.

You should however start talking to the caterers and whatever to see what the worse case scenario, and maybe see if they will cut you a deal on postponing the wedding. Find out what your options are there.

I don't know what kind of wedding you've planned. But, if, for example, you have a huge elaborate expensive reception, then you might decide it's worth your fiance flying out for a few days and actually going ahead with the reception. You may or may not feel able to do that: but if you couldn't afford to postpone it then it might be an option, you know?

Of course there are no guarantees, but things might work out. I'd follow some of the previous posters' advice: see if you can move the medical up (especially if your fiance is close to London and can go on short notice if someone cancels), If you didn't already send it, send the DS2001 form and I hope you sent a cover letter with your medical and wedding date. Also check other UK timelines to see about how long things are taking between packet 3 and interview. Don't use ours as an example. Packet 3 got lost!

I know you shouldn't plan anything ahead of time, but I can relate to why you did. Talk with your vendors and tell them the truth. I've had to reschedule everything twice and they've all been fantastic. Good luck!

If you put your medical and wedding date on the checklist when you sent it back, You have a good chance of making it on time. That is if you already sent the checklist off. I know putting an expected travel date, usually the embassy tries to fit you in so you can travel then. For example, When my husband sent off packet 3, the beginning of April (this was in 2008) and another couple sent it the same time, we put the end of May as a travel date and the other couple didn't put a travel date, and we got an interview date of the beginning of May and they got the end of May; Though we sent packet 3 the same day. There's no guarantees, but there's evidence that the embassy tries to get you a date in time.

I know what you're going through!!!! I did the same thing, got NOA2 March 28 and had a wedding scheduled May 21. My fiance called Knightsbridge to ask them to call if they had any cancellations, and he had his medical done within the week. Then we called the extortion line until they gave us the email code for the embassy. I emailed the embassy and within 2 hours he had an interview scheduled. Granted, they scheduled the interview 10 days before the wedding, but this was also only 3-4 weeks before the wedding by the time I emailed. It all worked out and he got here, so thats whats important.... good luck!!!!
