I met my fiance on paid matrimonial website before a year ago. My question is what i have to write in IMBRA coloumn in I-129f form.

Please help me in this.

I believe you would have to put on the Box "Check Yes" . Facebook, MySpace would be a Check No. I Opoligize but its been 7 Months since Our submission of the 129-F.

It's not a bad thing though. It is very common to meet through these types of Chatlines. Answer each question honestly. (They will see it later anyway) But, as I said: It will not really matter to much anyway if you did meet on a Paid Site. E-Harmony is a paid site though I never subscribed.

Do Not check "Yes" until other feedback from Members give a view. I could be wrong.

Wait for a few more replies.

REMEMBER. It's not a big deal. I know 2 couples here that meet the same way. Both have been here 3 years now and really did not have a problem. It is very Common these days.

Good Luck

I think it's a simple question:

"Does the website exist solely to introduce foreign women to US men" (intentionally sexist order). I met my wife on e-Harmony, purely because I set my search radius to include Portland, OR and Vancouver, BC is closer. The question is, "is the majority of their business international dating". With eHarmony the answer is "no" so there's nothing to comply with.

If your particular site does the majority of their business for international match-making then they would need to comply so you would answer "yes". If the international aspect was incidental to the main purpose of the site, as in my case, the answer would be "no".

IMHO it's a horrible law trying to prevent a horrible problem and it's constitutionality is questionable at best.

Good luck

Alex.

I am still not sure what to write yes/no

I'm not really sure because IMBRA focuses on battered Spouses and Criminal Background of the Petitioner/Beneficiary. Don't check any boxes as of yet.

There are Members here that can answer this as far as completing your 129-F.

Thank you Alex,

We met through shaadi.com this website only work for merriages and its paid website. We both paid the money for register on that website.

Plz tell me what should i say yes/no.

Does the website match more people in international relationships or does the website match more people in India itself.

If you answered "international" then I'm pretty sure you'd be covered by IMBRA. If it's used more by people living domestically in India then IMBRA wouldn't hold.

It's the exceptions to the act which are more important:

(B) EXCEPTIONS.—Such term does not include—

(i) a traditional matchmaking organization of a

cultural or religious nature that operates on a nonprofit

basis and otherwise operates in compliance with the

laws of the countries in which it operates, including

the laws of the United States; or

(ii) an entity that provides dating services if its

principal business is not to provide international dating

services between United States citizens or United

States residents and foreign nationals and it charges

comparable rates and offers comparable services to

all individuals it serves regardless of the individual’s

gender or country of citizenship.

You'll see that someone like match.com or eharmony.com fit under exception B(ii) because they don't charge any differently and don't try make any attempt to match overseas in preference to domestic. Now you need to answer the question for the actual dating service that you used.

Just answer the following questions:

Is the purpose of the site you used to allow Indian men in the United States to find wives back in India?

Can Indian men in India use the same website?

If you answered "yes" to the first and "no" to the second I'd almost guarantee that you're covered by IMBRA.
