I align with neither. Number 1 issue is individual liberty and individual responsibility. With either party they only believe in individual freedom for certain things, they both want big government, just to control different parts of my life. Not interested in either.

Well, the federal budget would be looking a hell of a lot better if we had just left W's tax cuts expire last year. All of them. Maybe he was right to have them sunset in Dec 2010. Well, if I'm the liberal you refer to, then I would agree with you. A person who comes to you and takes advantage of you and expects services to be provided for free, as you've described it, is a leech. I don't condone that. I wonder why you invested as much time as you did before confirming with this client that you expect to be paid for your services, and not offer them pro bono? Surely that's something you do routinely in your line of work?

In any event, your example points out that our society has leeches. I agree. We have low income poor leeches. And we have high income rich ones. And I don't like either kind. And none of that to me has much to do about the benefits of being a liberal or a conservative.

Why would you go to a person who is going to render a service and not expect that payment will be due. If I walk into a place of business my first thought isn't they are going to give me anything pro bono. My thought is to make sure I have payment options ready for them. Just our different way of thinking of which really dumbfounds me. Next time I go get my hair cut I will make sure to ask if she is doing it pro bono as she doesn't have a prices listed either.

I will agree with you that there are rich leeches and poor ones, and my generalization whether right or wrong, about liberals is based only on my experience of dealing with the public over 15 years and conversations I have had with my clients and their experiences.

Because following our species' departure from the cave, there is a need for government. As countries develop and societies and economies evolve, the role for government typically doesn't decrease. Recognizing that there is a valid role for government, one also has to recognize that the functions such government carries out need to be funded.

If you don't like government and prefer a country without one, I suggest you book a trip to Mogadishu and take a look at what a country without a functioning government looks like. They don't feed the beast, they starved it. And what a paradise that made for them.

As for the HAL thing, you'll see what they do with the constant insinuation that I am his/her sock-puppet. I think the site administration looked at my account (visitors) and haven't really asked me if I was- and I'm still here so I guess its a vote of confidence in my favor and one less for the paranoid posters here that probably own like 10 separate accounts themselves. You are always entitled to continue to display your own ignorance of the English language and its proper use as a means of communicating thoughts and ideas. The thought though that it really gets under your skin to have your consistent flaws is quite funny- purely for entertainment value although at times when you have a heart to heart you can actually succeed in effectively communicating your point without need for much help from your reader.

Well I honestly don't seek services without having full knowledge of the price and that I have the funds to cover such expenses. Qualifying those kinds of behaviors as politically charged with liberals or conservatives is quite silly- unless you have information about the politics of each and every one of these leech clients you've worked with personally. Which would still only serve to qualify your own preconception of this political leaning. But I appreciate your input as I did before. I can't generalize what conservatives do and think based on what I read for the most part here since that would be falling into a logic trap.

I agree with you on that. I do not know the overall facts, but just by my interview with this young lady I will stand by my perception that she is far from conservative. Like I said this is my own personal opinion based on my experiences...of some cases I do know pretty well the circumstances. I think this is another case as with a lot in politics we can agree to disagree....
