I highly doubt that the Medical Clinic is fraudlent . Nothing wrong to get another clinic to repeat this particular test . If it comes negative, then, we can say that the first clinic is wrong and then can file a complaint including notifying this to the Consulate so their contract can be revoked in the future.

Yes, this is a serious problem . I 'm sure Mr. Consular Officer is not going to view it favorably . This is an STD. It will bring a red flag !

Sorry, I don't agree with you. Fraud does occur at the clinic (give us 20,000 RMB, we make this problem go away) .

I see Darnell. I did run into that myself in the Phils and at the airport in Tokyo. Why would a Medical be different. These were Security Guards in Uniform as well. So that can be Correct.

So do you suggestion everyone who has a signicant partner abroad should go check their blood for anything prior to a actuall visa medical review. If I knew that a couple months agon, I would have told her to go and a shot would have been given to her and a cured her. I wouldn't be leaving comments on vj.

FYI- please check your spouse blood work-up before you file your visa paper work.

sorry...i was a bit upset...for not seeing the future ahead of time...

Another reason just to get a second opinion - false negatives and false positives do happen. It could be the clinic participating in some sort of fraud hoping to get some more money out of it to 'fix' things - or it could be an honest false positive. A second test from a different provider will provide you with more information. There is a second, more specific and more accurate test they can use to verify if the first positive is indeed a real positive. If it too comes back positive, then you deal with the situation, get her treated - and definitely get yourself tested and treated if necessary. If it comes back negative - then depending on the type of test it was, you may even need a third test to verify which result is accurate, or if it is the more accurate recommended test, then that would most likely be accepted as the true result. Hopefully it is something as simple - albeit very frustrating and annoying - as a false test result.

Good luck to the two of you. Have your wife focus on the positive aspects of your relationship, especially with the interview coming up. Having this hanging over her head will be nerve-wracking but it is important that she handle the interview well. There are other considerations in addition to the medical one that she needs to be ready to address and she doesn't want to come in worrying about negative medical results - especially when it can be treated if it does exist.

You mentioned in your other thread that you had both been sick recently. One of the conditions that can lead to a false positive on a syphyllis test is malaria. There are others that are not as common, but it is definitely worth considering:

Screening tests for syphilis are not highly specific and may give a false positive result. For example, having HIV, Lyme disease, malaria, lupus, or certain types of pneumonia may cause a false positive result on the VDRL and RPR tests. Positive tests should be confirmed with a more specific test method, such as FTA-ABS.

Geez I didn't think this would dig me in a bigger hole of suspicion on our relationship. But I guess the vo will probably look more on her history of relationship.

How would I prepare for this in convincing the vo of my wife sexual action with me only and not anyone else. I would assume this is impossbile unless i have a video of her tape to a chair for the past 6 months and show it to the vo that she didn't leave her room. What if she had this 4 years ago when we never knew each other-

I told my wife that too to get a 2nd opionion, now I will differently push her to go tommrow for another clinic.

----Question, why would the clinc try to setup a fraud on me and my wife. Note: my wife was very popular inside the medical place everyone came to her asking question and she was tired form talking to them. could this be some kind of get the young chinese girl and the non-local scheme.

will the medical people send our paper work to the vo? i thought we give the document ourself during the doc intake day? if not, will the visa people ever know if she had this medical done at all if we never turn in the medical work from this hospital.

my wife right now is crying her eyes out, and me trying not to break down. all i can tell her is a little longer for our visa and this can be fix with some shot of medicine. i will break down in a later time, just not right now..

please continue with your feed back....fyi---we are not bad people---

This does not mean either one of you are bad people. Get that Clear.

Unfortunately, we are handicapped in offering advice about how to prepare for the interview in light of this issue, because we don't really know anything else about your case. The Consular officer will be looking at the totality of the case including all the information you provided and all that was added by USCIS, NVC or the Consulate during the process.

For example, your wife's employment background will make a difference as will her age and other factors. One key thing they'll be looking for in that background is for indicators of prostitution. Another will be past relationships. Lots to consider and we're in the dark here.

For example, if she's a waitress or in retail sales, they'll look at her background differently than if she's a manager in a government agency or manufacturing company.

So, let's assume for the moment it is this STD. Coupla things:

1. yes, is possibility that will be put in administrative review, GUZ IV will wait on the next test results (test again after treatment)

2. GUZ IV MIGHT dig a bit deeper, as well, to find some OTHER reason to deny the visa - so be prepared for that.

I pray all goes easy for you two, emotions and process.

For gods sake NO. She will be given paperwork upon the Approval of the Medical and then you need to Schedule. This is what I understand. I might be wrong

She follows the Consulate instuctions and goes to the interview They will provide further instructions as needed. In a similar case, they instructed the applicant to bring the updated medical in after treatment was complete they assume the treatment will be successful, so will proceed on that basis. If they decide yes on the visa, she'll get a blue 221g notice, indicating they need the medical result if they decide to deny, they will do so without waiting.

I should add that this is what they did in 2009. Now that they ask for the papers to be delivered the day before the interview, their procedure on this may have changed. If so, the applicant will be informed on the day before the interview. In any event, plan on some extra time in Guangzhou (maybe a couple extra weeks) until the treatment is complete and updated results are provided.

Hmm...sorry for this to happen to you. I am a researcher in neurology, and not an MD, but the standard of treatment has been established and clear for a long time. Outside of your possible consulate issues I agree with your decision to have your own medical check to see if a transfer occurred or if you might be the source. Depending on the individual, chronic asymptomatic infection is possible but usually will result in ongoing organ damage. Who ever is positive should be treated asap and if negative you may still want to receive a prophylactic antibiotic regardless. A more thorough exam would be warranted to look for ongoing organ damage but this only occurs in a chronic infection. Right now just focus on your visa and your blood work.
