Better stand in the park across the street to take pictures of the Embassy, the security guards will stop you from taking pics if they see you. I saw many people asked to keep moving or stop taking pics when I was there in 2010. They also do not like you to loiter in front of the embassy either. Good Luck on your wife's interview!

Sunday is a great day to take photos at the Embassy, it's shut and the guards not hassle you.

I will take it a couple of hours, forgot about the guard. but yeah they probably stop me so i better stand far away or just take the street angle and quick snap the embassy angle.

He'll be taking pictures of a combination office and residential building where the Guangzhou US Consulate's US Citizen Services, Non Immigrant and Immigrant Visa Units are housed. There is only one US Embassy in any country and it is always in the Capital City. The actual US Consulate (Not Embassy) in Guangzhou is not located where the interview will take place. You won't get much of a photo from the same side of the street as the building no matter what day it is. The building is just too big.

When standing in front of the building, Mr. Yang's entrance to one of the attached towers will have you turning left and then right at the next corner before crossing any street. Mr. Xie's office is found by turning right from the same spot, continuing across the first street you come to, then turning left and proceeding to the a housing complex on that same side of the street. Most of his apartments are in a building back across that same street. Both Gentlemen and their staff are can provide excellent assistance for the medical and reviewing papers. They can also refer you to competent assistance, should there be any problems at the interview.

Guys ;

Let me know what you think of his place or Mr. Xie's is ?

Is there a reasonably good hotel near by ?

Thanks.

They are both fine. However there is also a newly renovated and recently opened actual "hotel" in the "block" of the Consulate building. If you think of the block you would walk around as a square clock, with the Consulate building as 6, you will find this hotel at approximately 10 on the clock of that block. Face the front door, turn left, walk to the corner and within about 20 feet of the second corner (don't cross any streets) you'll find the hotel of which I speak. I don't recall the name and at street level there is only a small lobby. All the rooms are on the second floor and are quite nice. We stayed in a deluxe room with two beds. They have smaller interior rooms without windows but they were also nice. The rest of the hotels in the area are pretty expensive unless I'm spending an employer's expense money.
