You only have one original that was sent to USCIS...I'm saying make plenty of copies of the certified documents...we had 4 of each made. I sent the orignal with a certified copy to NVC. So I'm saying send two certified copies if you want...you do not have to and since you dont have the original idk if it would matter.

JUST BE SURE TO GET ENOUGH CERTIFIED COPIES THAT YOU HAVE BACK UPS :D

I have certified copies of original which i sent to husband. I wish you hadnt sent that husbands are so lazy. :(

EDIT : sorry it was for haseena :P

You need to get those orignals back or NVC will not process anything in the next step of Immigration Processing. This is assuming you will get NOA2 approval from USCIS.

Good Luck, I know how difficult it can be to get these documents.

Thank you for your concern . I wish your comment was tad bit helpful .

Thanks - I'm glad you read it. Underlying this entire process is the concept of reading the instructions, and following them.

Now, you probably have some civil documents generated that he submitted with the I-130. All is not lost - he will have to talk with a NVC Person, request that the casefile be OPENED, the civil documents be REMOVED from the I-130, and put in with the DS-230 .

It's not any automatic process, he has to ask for it. The human he talks to can't do it directly, but will make a request for it to be done.

The ONLY civil document that's worth regenrating is the Police Clearance Certificate, as it has some timeliness to it.

In the final end game, on interview day, you BRING THOSE PHOTOCOPIES and you ask the VO to EXCHANGE with you.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Haseena,

Let's take a step back and start from scratch. I am assuming you read what Darnelll said or took it differently, so let's get it clear:

1. What are the list of civil documents that you sent as part of I-130. What were originals and what were certified? One of your post you said "by orginals i mean our nikah nama aka marriage certificate , translated marriage certificate and my birth certificate ", which I found bit confusing. Did he send original and translated marriage certificate? So why don't you write down details of what was original and what certified.

2. Set up your timeline, that way people can understand how much time you have. If you just got NOA1, some may suggest you to start working on getting a duplicate for the originals, or do something to retrieve them from USCIS or something with NVC.

Please do not feel offended if someone questions your judgment. Everyone goes through the same journey having a unique experience. The basics could be the same, but implementation of it is quiet different. And you can learn a lot from the users. If someone asks you a question here, it's okay, what's not okay is if the same question is raised by USCIS or NVC and then push your time by a month or asks for an RFE. YOu my find people are trying to be critical but most are really trying to be helpful (of course there will always be some jerks). So let's start with the 2 points immidiately. Also, it would be better if you asks your husband if he can join as it's better hear from the horse's mouth. Oh one more thing, I am guessing he filed by himself!!!!!
