price in Australia will not be close to the price in Jamaica, even if available

FWIW, K-1 has no vaccination requirement...

Yeah, I'm sure the prices will vary a lot, I was curious though...

Please be aware that what is done in other countries may not be available in Jamaica. Therefore things related to the embassy are handle different from country to country.

I'm very much aware of this! Like I said, curious about options, maybe won't work for my fiance and me, but all of it's new, and I like to hear what other people have done, so we can atleast try these other options that we wouldn't have even thought about on our own!

I have tried to share with those who are going thru the Jamaican embassy, process and procedures that will work in their favor, if the OP wants to take the advise of those from other countries so be it. But, I will say this only one time the Jamaican embassy have their own acceptance process. The medical doctors for the embassy will only accept certain documentations, so if you wish to follow a process that they are not accepting, then that is the OP's money.

Most individuals in Jamaican did attend school, every year before going back to school, Jamaican school children are required to have their immunizations updated, if they were not completed and updated, then the school would not have accepted them back for the school year. That is why I have suggested to you to check with his school, they may have something on file. It doesn't matter how long he has been out of school, Jamaican schools are not yet computerized.

Whoa whoa, I'm just hearing other options here, understanding they may not work for us, but knowledge is never a bad thing! Even when it may not apply to my situation. And you say the doctors at the embassy will only accept certain documentations, and that's what I'm asking: What documentations will they accept? If the blood test is avaible would they even take it? Will they hear him say he's been in school so assume he's gotten certain shots? Will he go the medical exam with no documents and we'll pay hundreds of dollars for a whole bunch of shots? I am hearing what you're saying about the school, I was asking which school would be better to check with also.

Not all those shots are required. If he doesn'tk now what immunisations he has he can see his local doctor to do a "blood titer" to determine his current immunities. Then he'll only need whatever one's he's missing for his age range.

See here: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/adult/mmwr-adult-schedule.pdf page 2, table 1 (shots in yellow excluding HPV and zoster which are no longer required by USCIS)

Thanks for the site, great info!!:dance::dance:

The doctors will accept a copy of his immunization record from school, to eliminate the need to give him duplicate shots. Most of the immunizations listed are childhood immunizations, therefore he would have only gotten them when they were required for his age. So, even now if it is proven that he did not receive the immunization for his age group, he would not be given them as a adult. That is why most people as an adult has only been receiving 3 to 4 of the required shot.

Just to add. i was under the same impression that I have to show proof of vaccinations but we only have to get few done not..There is a chart of the website under the questionnaire and it is split into ages. So let say if you are over 25 you only have to get tetnas and MRV done.

Is this valid for all countries I wonder?

Shots required are different as far as what's needed to enter the U.S.? I thought the list of shots on here is across the board kind of thing, where anyone getting a visa and entering the U.S. needs those shots?

Okay so now I'm curious what shots are needed, when I'm hearing that 'every country is different' If anyone has updated list of what's required in Jamaica for immunizations for a 35 yr old male, that'd be great! I looked at this site: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html and had been going off that, but now I'm even more confused with all this talk :bonk:

Yeah some people get really picky about people from other countries giving advice, on this front it's a bit silly but whatever :P

The TRUTH is the list I gave you is correct. Those are the shots that are required BUT some countries like Mexico don't ask for shots to get the K1, Australia does. The UK doesn't have the varicella shot available in their country so that isn't "needed" at the embassy.

Personally I don't think they would ignore the blood titer (blood titre) but knowing that it's an option and ASKING them is good. So give the doctor a call and see if he'd accept a blood titre showing immunities, he says no, then you know. Here's the doctor list: http://kingston.usembassy.gov/medicalexams.html (you probably already had it). Australia's list also says "immunisation records" and I wasn't aware of the the titre was even an option till someone else told me AFTER my medical.

So yes, countries do some things differently but ASKING if it's an option won't hurt anything and could save you time and money.

While good advise - She is getting advice from people with experience with the Jamaican medical that the blood titre will NOT work and is not an option.

Dealing with Jamaica, there are four options:

1, Have your medical records

2. Go to your school and see if you can obtain a copy of your immunization records

3. Go to the clinic, prior to your medical, and obtain all the shots

4. Show up at the medical without any of the above, and pay an arm and a leg for the shots.
