If your case is already completed and you are current, the NVC will set an appointment for you by sending you P4 (Interview Appointment). It will be sent via email (if you have registered one) or snail mail. Instructions will be on that letter. Once an interview has been scheduled, you can then have your medical examinations at St. Luke's Medical Clinic extension. Before your interview date, make sure you have updated your nbi, ITR and W2 of your petitioner (latest). CEMAR is also being asked if your spouse is the petitioner. Goodluck, you are next in line.

Good day po, :) Emergency question po. Kasi po my mother has an insufficient income so we are asked by the embassy to have a joint-sponsor. Now we are having a problem as to what we are going to submit, I-864 or I-864A?

Ask ko lang po kung what is the best decision among here, I-864 or I864A ba ang ipapasa namin sa Embassy?

Maraming salamat po! Your answers would mean a lot us. God bless po. :)

I-864A:

This contract is intended to benefit the sponsored immigrant(s) and any agency of the Federal Government, any agency of a State or local government, or any private entity to which the sponsor has an obligation under the affidavit of support to reimburse for benefits granted to the sponsored immigrant. This contract may be enforced in any court with appropriate jurisdiction. By signing this form, a household member who is not a sponsored immigrant, agrees to make his or her income and/or assets available to the sponsor to help support the immigrant for whom the sponsor has filed an affidavit of support.

So in your case, it should be I-864, since your mom lives in a different house and has different household size now. If her friend still want to help you, she/he will be a joint sponsor and file a separate I-864.

How to File an Affidavit of Support

You, the sponsor, should complete Form I-864 when your relative has been scheduled for an immigrant visa interview with a consular officer overseas or when your relative is about to submit an application for adjustment to permanent resident status with the USCIS or with an Immigration Court in the United States. If you have a joint sponsor, they must also complete Form I-864. If you are using the income of other household members to qualify, then each household member who is accepting legal responsibility for supporting your relative must complete a separate Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member.

I see. So that's what were going to send. Thank you so much! And thanks for the great read now I understand better. :D

I have a little question, is it ok if my mom will send these files to the US embassy manila? Or does she need to send it to me and then I'll send it through 2go? Thanks.

Is it the only thing US embassy asking for? If yes, i dont see any problem if your mom will be the one sending it directly to them. But if there are more documents you need to submit and you have them, better send the I-864 to u first so you can compile all documents and send them altogether.

My question is, who should send these files? Is it supposed to be my mother, the joint-sponsor or us(individually, my borther and I)? They've been asking the same things and we complied them.

Thank you once again. God bless.

As of my reading on your letter, it should be YOU. Did you send all documents being asked?
