Hi! My son was approved for an immigrant visa yesterday. Now I would like to be prepared on what comes next after his port of entry regarding his status & well-being here. Will he receives a 10 year green card? I received mine (his mother) last May. When can he be a citizen? My husband & I were married when my son was 17 years old. How do we go about education in the US, particularly in Colorado? My son is a freshman in college in the Philippines. Hope someone can share & helpsmilie.gifus with these...

If your son is entering the US with an immigrant visa after you have already removed conditions on your green card then he should get a 10 year green card, as well. You don't have to do anything further. The green card will be produced and sent to him automatically when he enters the US. He should receive it in a few weeks.

If he can speak English then he shouldn't have any trouble enrolling in a college or university here. He may have to pay out-of-state/foreign tuition until he's been in the state long enough to be considered a resident by the college for tuition. I don't know about Colorado. In California you have to be a resident for one year before you get in-state tuition.

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
