He is being civil what's wrong with you?

You could explain how an American lawyer ends up working in the ukraine.

Any fule kno that American interests need to be represented locally. Why are there American lawyers in Azerbaijan?

Again...no incentive. If the response to "I spent 3 weeks fixing a roof" is "you are lying because a roof that size would never take so long," there really is not a lot more to talk about.

I've already said I'm willing to have a rational conversation. You're preaching to the wrong choir.

Inconceivable!

:P

Anyway...just want to apologize for de-railing this thread, I won't de-rail further. I'm still jetlagged to the point of exhaustion, and really should be nowhere near a keyboard. :)

Well, at least we know they are both heavy drinkers.

I can't speak for whyme, but it's common knowledge that if you spend any time at all in Ukraine, you inevitably return a heavy drinker. It's a coping mechanism. :D

That is actually a fair point. Shame on you, WhyMe.

Let me explain to you something about..."menial labor" in your white collar eyes there AJ. When you re-roof a house you do it asap so you don't have your house...or in this case "dacha" destroyed by rain. Two guys can re-sheet and re-roof a normal size dacha in half day...that's if they are taking beer breaks every hour or so.

That's my in laws dacha down below. It has a metal/tin roof as do most dacha's in the RUB country's. The few that aren't are shake roofs. I could re-sheet that dacha and re-roof it in a day...by myself. If it was a shake roof it might take me a day and a half tops...if that.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You might as well throw in cutting down the cedar tree's and using a kiln. Splitting shakes/wood shingles is done while your roofing (up on the roof while your nailing them) and it's only done so that you don't have one gap overlapping your next gap/split where two shakes/wood shingles meet. A person would have to be semi paralyzed to take three weeks on one of those roofs.

Splitting shakes consist of raising your roofing ax and dropping it on said shake. Takes like two seconds tops.

Maybe he meant sawing the shingles. I have extreme respect for those folks, having seen it done once.

They had shake mills back home (Washington state)...but it was done with a saw. Still hard work though.

It's still too early to tell yet...although we have toned it down a bunch in the RUB forum...but not because of any chicks telling us to.
