Hi all,

I was hoping maybe someone with past experience concerning a K-1 visa may be able to provide me some answers to a few questions I have. So, my fiance and I received the packet 3 information and he sent off packet 3 today back to the consulate in Ankara, Turkey. Here are my questions. Do they immediately upon receipt of the package sent out notification about the interview date, or is the package reviewed first and then interview scheduled? I am just curious because I called a few weeks ago, they said the next set of interviews they were scheduling was for July 5th, so I am just curious if they receive the file next week early, when his interview date might be? Also, do they look through the file first to see if anything is missing and send out notification so that anything missing can be taken to the interview? Also, any of you who have had past experience with this, can you tell me approximately how long after you confirmed the consulate received your package 3 doc that you were notified about your interview date please? Anyway, thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this post and who might be able to provide some information that I could leverage. We are just getting so anxious about being together again and I am just trying to make sure I have as much information as possible regarding this end of the process.

Thanks all and I wish everyone a wonderful weekend!

I'm not familiar with the k-1 process but I'm here in Ankara and did the DCF I-130 with my husband. We sent in out application and it was recieved by the Embassy on May 18th. We got an interview date over the phone when I called to ask about an email I received on the 31st. Now there was 1 Turkish holiday and 1 American holiday in that time, so it took us a total of 7 business days to get our interview. I believe that they do look over your file and decide if you meet income requirements etc before scheduling an interview. If you have any missing documents, they give the chance for you to send them in before scheduling too. Like I said, I know this is how it is for the IR-1 visa but not completely familiar with the K-1/K-3 visas any longer. The best thing to do is give it 2 weeks/14 business days, and then you can always send an inquiry through the US embassy website in Ankara. I know they are probably pretty familiar with me by now with all the questions I asked lol. Good Luck!!! Ankara Embassy is really good too though, they seem to be very nice.

Recieved Joint Sponsors Packet- 05/16/2011

Sent Application via UPS to US Embassy in Ankara- 5/17/2011

Embassy recieved Application- 5/18/2011

On 5/31/2011 Called Embassy to Inquire about application-received interview date for 7/12/2011

Interview-waited 2.5 hours-lasted 5-10 minutes. APPROVED!!!! YAY!!!

What a surprise!!

I am also waiting for an interview date for K1. I contacted Ankara and I am told someone will review and get back with me via e-mail in the next few days after my packet 3 is looked over. I believe they publish interview dates twice a month, beginning and mid month, so we should be getting an interview date soon. Did you know you can look up schedule here: http://www.usemb-ankara.org.tr/consular/english/schedule_iv.html . It looks scary seeing all these K1s at the end of August and September. If we wait any longer than couple more months I will loose it. Good luck and please post when you get a date.

Thank you so much I had no idea that there was a site I could look at that would give us the dates and times of the interviews. That is so very helpful thank you so much. I will tell you that I called them a few weeks ago and they told me at that time, for K-1 visas that they were scheduling now for around July 5th, so I am hoping that maybe my fiance and I might be lucky enough that he will have his interview by mid July, ohhh that would be amazing and I would be so thankful. I am in the same boat as you waiting a few more months just seems unbearable however this is not anything we can control. They'll schedule us when they schedule us, but I am praying it will be sooner as opposed to later. I just spoke with my fiance today and he confirmed with UPS that our package 3 doc will be delivered by Wednesday so I am hoping by next week maybe we'll hear something one way or another. Thanks again for the information this was most helpful!

I received an e-mail this morning of our interview date set for Jul 20th. I am hoping you have also received a date?

Hi There, nope we have not received a date yet, but considering our timelines on sending in the packages are somewhat close to eachother I am hoping we will have an interview date soon. I called and spoke with the consulate this morning, they confirmed they had our packet 3 but that an interview date had not yet been assigned. I am hoping and praying we get one very soon!

Hi Tuana, below is the e-mail notification we received. One thing though, the e-mail was addressed to my fiancee, but e-mail was sent to me, not him. So be sure to check both the e-mail addresses you have provided, look in spam etc as well. Because they do not send a hard copy letter and missing the e-mail would be terrible. Good Luck.
