This is a good example of why stereotyping is dangerous. My fiancee gives anything but the silent treatment -- her anger is explosive and often even in public. As embarrassing as this is, it is something I have to overcome and simply a part of her overall personality. Of course she is much different then the stereotypical Filipina some are portrait. Because she is well educated she doesn't just sit back and let me get away with the 'typical' American things that I do with her. Her anger can explode for the smallest of infractions but she does recognize her faults (as well as mine). These are the things that you simply get to work on during marriage. Compromises!
