Hello to all the great people here on this forum.

Yesterday my fiancé had her interview at the embassy in Ciudad Juarez.

She came out in tears... The Immigration Officer told her "the system is reviewing information and if everything is ok, you will have your visa".

The officer did not give her any document or paper with any type of code or anything. He did not return her passport.

After investigating all night, I still have not found a case similar to this. Supposedly the Immigration Officers provide you with a written statement if the visa is denied or is goin under further review.

So we have no idea what is going on, nor what to do next!!!!

Any insight will be greatly appreciated. We've put everything on the line for this:(

I always thought that them keeping ones passport was a good sign. To me, in my case, and everyone else from Canada ( I cannot speak for other countries as I dont know the facts ) they take the passport, make up the visa, stick the visa into the passport, and return the passport with the visa in it. This process usualy takes up to 72 hours.

I hope this is your guys' case too !

One they take your passport IT'S THE BEST SIGN OF APPROVAL! :star:

Thank you for the quick replies. So taking the passport can be a sign of approval even in the absence of the traditional "welcome to the united states..." verbal affirmation?

According to what I've read, if they were to put it under administrative review it could take months to years, BUT, they would have provided a document with the 221g code.

Just wondering what we should do to gain some sort of knowledge about what to do next.

How long must one wait to contact the embassy and inquire about the case?

It would really help to know where you from . . .

Most Likely, the namechecks were not finished, and they stupidly not mention it at the interview.

When namechecks are not finished, some tag of 'administrative processing' or 'additional processing', AP, is 'set' for the status of the casefile.

IMO, calling the Embassy won't give up this status to you, but calling the DoS Hotline (# in my profile, click the girls, left panel) and inquiring for casefile status, is the best thing you can do right now. DoS Hotline open M-F, 8 - 5 EST.

Ask specifically - is the casefile in AP? Then if they say yes, ask - Is the namecheck finished or not? .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

the same thing just happened to my fiance yesterday in juarez as well, and another couple we spoke to had the same experiance, which made me more relaxed, however we just spoke with omeone this morning who said they received an actual yes yeterday so now I dont know but they took her pasport and tourist visa which i think is a good sign of approval, because my fiance also told me thet she heard the consulate give a denial on the spot to another person, so if the answer was no they would have said so at the interview....its just unbelievable to me that we spent all this money and came to the most dangerous city in the americas to not get an answer....pinche consulado!!! well on monday they will be receiving a call from a very upset petitioner and taxpayer.

best of luck to you though

Thanks egospiers,

Tried calling the call center today but my call dropped just as they answered and then they closed for the day!

I will be calling again on Monday and already have contacted my senator to get him involved.

It's been a year and I'm tired of this BS. We live in Mexico with our two kids have for many years and are trapped until they approve. Everyday it is scarier to stay here and it's just a matter of time before something happens.

Let me know how it goes for you and if you want any phone numbers, URLs etc.

I'll post as soon as I know more and hopefully the next person will be able to benefit from this info.

Definately if they took the passport it is very good sign.(because what other reasons would they keep it if they were going to deny it??) ;) A similar thing happend to my fiance, the interview went well everything very positive. But I made a horrible mistake :bonk: and forgot to send him the I134 affidavit of support and they wanted more pictures of us together.(not sure if that is a good or bad sign??) I had only sent in a few pictures with the petition. Though they did not keep his passport but they did not give him any papers saying he was being denied or in administrative processing either . I've since sent in the required paperwork they requested. Now just waiting word from them. I wish you good luck!! (doesn't sound like you need it though):)
