My opinion is that first it will show your relationship is a stronger one. Being there with your spouse in such an important date of both your lives, shows great dedication and support. I have always thought this even before I joined VJ. I would say try ur best to make it the interviews. Best of luck for you and ur spouse.

hello everybody,we just got the interview day,it's on july 12 in Bucharest and we don't know what to do,if to go both or just me it's fine?thank you

Our interview is on June 14th, My work schedule will not allow me to attend so my fiance will go alone. From everything I have read, I do not see this as a big negative. I am sure the consulates realize that alot of people cannot take the time off on such short notice or choose to take the time off from work when their fiances arrive. Some consulates do not allow the petitioners to attend the interview. You should research your countries portal and read through some of the interview comments. I am sure you will find all of the information you seek. Best of luck you with your interview

For everyone reading this thread, be sure to check with your local consulate before making plans. Some absolutely will not allow the spouse to attend the interview while other almost demand that they be there--don't make the mistake of not attending when you must, or turning the world upside down to attend, only to be told you aren't even allowed inside the embassy once you get there. If it isn't speklled out in the embassy section at the top of this website, call them--don't assume anything--too much is at stake here.

I checked out the Embassy page for you and both of you can attend the interview, though I am unsure if having both of you there is absolutely necessary. If it makes you feel any better it would seem that people have an easy and smooth time at the interview.

If you want to take all the guess work out of the equation, at stated in a earlier reply, contact the embassy and/or simply read the consulate reviews from people who have attended the interviews in your country both together and seperately. For sure, the requirements for each country are not the same

And some will evade the question or lie to you. There is no downside to attending -- it never hurts and may help. A lot of us wish that we had it to do over again, in which case we would definitely be there.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It is always good to have moral support and someone to talk to during the waiting period. In the UK it is allowed this much I know, but they will not be allowed to approach the window with the intending immigrant during this process.

It is indeed good for moral support, but it's not a must in Bucharest. The consuls are nice and pleasant; with a real marriage and if you put together a good file you should have no problem at all. My now husband could not afford another trip to Romania, especially so close to starting our life together, so I went by myself at the interview. It's mostly a matter of personal choice, not a consulate requirement and it will not affect the outcome in any way. Good luck at your interview next month!!!

same with me and my hubby - no chance to afford a trip for the interview. sure it would be nice to have him there - but it wont affect the outcome. its just not easy for most ppl to afford the journey - in particular shortly before starting life together. so i ll go there on my own too - but once i have my visa, i ll jump on the first slight thats affordable and then i ll be with HIM forever! finally.

good luck for ur interview - its 4 days after mine.
