We used "Anglo Pacific".

London (02009851234), Glasgow(0141 764 1010)

We shipped 7 boxes and it wasn't too expensive. We sold all of our bigger items and re-bought them in the US.

Happy moving!

I am currently looking into the option to get a lift-van, effectively a wooden crate, that is being loaded into a container, as I'm not comfortable having other people handle my stuff (heard too many nightmares about broken and lost things lately). A 2x1x1 crate including customs clearance and door-to-door has been quoted to me at around 1900 GBP from Cambridge, UK (roughly) to Boston, MA. It is a lot of money but I want to take a few items of furniture and my bike and all my books so I think it's worth it for me. (Also bearing in mind, that familiar things might help alleviate home-sickness once in the US).

The company that quoted me also offered tailored sizes if that's too big.

Hope this helps at all.

Here's the old shipping thread in the UK forum with links to many companies. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/128548-yes-its-another-shipping-thread/ It's got some stories of experiences people had getting their goods.

We used 1st Move International
