I'm Sarah, and I found this site while perusing the Internet in an attempt to make sure my visa application was complete. I've found so many things here that have really helped me! I'm so glad this site exists, otherwise I would still be lost.

I met my fiance, Justin, on the Internet a few years ago. We've been in a relationship since April 2004, and first met December 2004! Since then I have spent 10 months in England (one trip of four months, one of six), and he about a month total in Colorado, where I live. We have been planning to get married for almost a year, but have run into a lot of bumps on the way to application. Finally I am almost ready to send our K1 forms off! I'm feeling really stressed out that I haven't done it right, it's all so complicated. My biggest worry is the affidavit of support as I'm not sure we have enough money....

However, this site has explained almost all of my other problems, and hopefully I'll be able to learn the answer to my affidavit question soon as well.

I want to thank everyone for your help. I hope that I'll be able to send all the forms off within the week!

Filed: K-3 Visa Country: Philippines
Timeline

Hello everyone. Like everyone here in VJ, I have been surfing the internet in the hope of finding more information about the whole petition process. There's no better way to be prepared than to do a lot of research. And would like to thank the creators of this site for providing the venue for people to share their own experiences. It's great how one learns the acronyms for the different forms, packets, etc of the immigration process; how getting a NOA sends someone to cloud nine; how one crosses his/her fingers while clicking the "check status online" in the USCIS and the US embassy in their respective countries; how dialling 603-334-0700 creates a mixture of emotions (and how I wish I can talk to a real operator soon and not just the "recording").

My husband and I met (again) when I did graduate studies in the US. We went to the same school in the Philippines and for some reason or stroke of fate, we met again. We got together for 2 years before getting married in 2004 (civil wedding in the US). We had a church wedding in 2006 and started the I130 petition process in May and the I-129F petition in April. We waited until 2006 because of my (non-waiveable) 2-year home residency requirement. Looking back, we should have filed earlier. Oh, well...The I-130 was approved on Sept 1, 2006 while the I-129F on July 25, 2006. I am scheduled for my K3 visa interview on Nov 13 but my husband and I are hoping that I will be scheduled for the IR visa interview before the year ends. The IR is just better since I don't have to go through the whole process of adjusting status once in the US.

Reading the shortcuts was very interesting. THanks a lot guys! This forum somehow "pacifies" the restlessness everyone of us who are involved in the petition process experience.

I am from Davao City and my husband's place is in Petaluma, CA.

Good luck to everyone in their cases...May we all get our interview dates soon, get approved and fly to the US to be with our loved ones.

Again, to the creators of this site, thanks a lot.
