I dont know much about the markets in Casablanca and Marrakech, but in Agadir there's a famous '' souk'' called Souk L'hed ( translation: Sunday Market) it is opened throughout the week except Monday. You will find some nice Moroccan arts and crafts in Marrakech. Also close to Agadir there's my city Taroudant, it's a small old city i have some pictures of it below. It's famous for its '' artisanat'' and its products are sold throughout Morocco, leather stuff, sandals, bags, lamps, caftans... I am not advertising for the city, but just because it has what you're looking for and it's about 45 mins from Agadir.

Caftans prices vary, it depends on the fabric and the type of work, try to check out as many shops as you can to have an idea about what you want and the prices.

I forgot how much i paid for the trip from Casablanca to Marrakech on the train, i bought a first class ticket and it was between 100 and 150 moroccan dirhams, i have just checked the train service website but it didnt give me the prices: http://www.oncf.ma/Fr/Horraires2.aspx?md=201&rb=491

I wish you a great and fun trip in Morocco. :)

The train from Casablanca to Marrakech will cost about $20-25 - don't bother paying for first class - it's pretty much all the same. In Marrakech you can shop in the medina it's your basic wares - stay away from the outer edges they will charge you much more. You can also go to Gueleiz if you want some nicer quality things. There are a lot of boutiques selling really nice items. If I were buying nice gifts - I'd go there. I can't tell you much about Casa because I'm not too familiar - but Marrakech - anything you want to know let me know!!

I am from Marrakech, I used to work as salesman in a bazzar, I know MOST of businesses and craftsmen. If you want ask for SAMMARINE SOUK by JAMAA LAFNA , Then ask for ABDALLAH LAFROUGUI's in FANDAQ AL MIZAN, once you make it there, find Khalid that works for Lafrougui tell him that you were sent by his friend Mohamed from USA and just tell him what you are looking for and he will be your best help. I know everybody there and I know their tricks and I dont trust alot of them .

bonne chance.

If you want a tour as well, I know a fantastic, fun, stylish, FEMALE city guide who is the best I have met so far. Usually I stay away from guides because I feel like even after they are paid and tipped, they STILL are just out to get a commission. This woman is fantastic and doesn't do that-- the first person I have met who doesn't! She also knows prices, is a native Mrrakchia, and is pretty stylish. You'd have to pay her for her time but, as I said, she's the best at giving out information in a fun and informative way that isn't just going on and on spewing names and dates that go in one ear and out the other. Let me know; I can PM you her info.

My advice. Walk around and find the ones you like, then show them to your fiance and disappear. He will get them at a much better price alone than if you are with him. We have done it this way since my first visit in 2003. They won't haggle as low with an American as with a native.

We were doing the same thing mostly when we wanted to buy something expensive. Once My brother-in-law and sister-in law came to visit us here in Palestine, and my brother-in-law saw a backgammon, Syrian Stylish board, in Beitleham and as it is a tourist city, the shop owner asked for 150$ when he saw three Americans with me, but we did not buy it. I returned back alone after few days and bought it for 30$.

Give it try to save money :) May be it will work in Moroco
