Did you wear the red, white and blue to work or school in remembrance of the tragedy of September 11, 2001? To help show your support for those who lost their lives, the heroes who worked to save them and the families they left behind. (F)

I don't need a date to remember those people. I remember them every day and honour them by thanking the heroes for what they did and mourning those lost.

I didn't know we had to wear red white and blue though.

Black pants -- as a symbol of mourning the 2,996 murdered that day.

For the flag colours: well, my car is red, and I have some white-and-blue writing pads in it.

A lot of the major corporations, government offices, military, police and fire departments, etc have passed out memo’s to their employees to wear red, white and blue. Also to put their headlights on, when they drive their cars today.

In Miami I am very proud to see most cars with their headlights on and a lot of people wearing their red, white and blues.

Thanks,

Peter

At first I was shocked reading Peter's post as I thought he may have meant something like this:

But I reread it and I do believe that is NOT what he meant...

BTW that shirt sickens me as a boy scout I remember learning that items such as that were disrespectful of our flag, yet in the last decade or so that has become "patriotic".

I am curious, Peter what are your thoughts (as a Marine) on clothes designed after our flag?

Observed a moment of silence at 9:37 am as I was driving to work (the time when the plane hit the Pentagon). It was a very emotional drive to work-they played God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood and I was just remembering the day...

Actually I hadn't heard of any push to do something like this, so I didn't. Don't see any evidence of it around the office either.

Hi Marc,

I am a little confuse on this issue because being in the military service you learn that your “Colors” (Flag) is one of the most important things, you take care of it and you show it proudly. Every time we conquer or arrive to some land, space, or planet we put our Flag.

All of us in the military learn everything about the flag; how to fold it, how to raise it, how to bring it down, how to take care of it, what to do whit it, etc, etc. You never let your enemy take your Flag!

I hate when I see other peoples burn or mistreat our Flag. I can tell you one thing that no one will ever burn or mistreat a U.S. Flag as long as I have a breath or a heart beat.

I am very proud to see people flying our “Colors”! The short answer to your question is that as long as they are doing it in good taste I believe it is alright. I did not always felt like that but times have softened me up. I would prefer that would just wear the actual colors and have a U.S. Flag but this is just me opinion.

Having the U.S. Flag half way is a Flag Etiquette. This is called flying the flag at half-staff.

Whoa, I just realized that on Sept 11, 2001 I was at the second day of my new job. Today, five years later, again I was at the second day of my new job. Weird. And I didn't wear red, white, OR blue. :(

Why would you lie to me, Chuck? Why would you want to get my hopes up when you KNOW erekose could never possibly say anything even remotely humorous?? :P

I did notice that type2 and erek seem to be good buddies actually. I think it's sweet. ;) And where is this thread where erek attemped humor?
